I do believe it's pretty typical since progesterone helps to maintain pregnancy. Honestly, while the symptoms sound horrible, you're going to have those symptoms anyway if you get pregnant. When you get pregnant your progesterone levels go way up and those are just side effects of the hormone, so it's kind of unavoidable whether you take the suppositories or not.

Most of those symptoms are just from progesterone in general. You need enough progesterone to support a healthy pregnancy, so doctors often supplement it.

I need to wear a panty-liner every day which is kind of annoying, but it's not too bad.

My boobs are sore and I'm tired, which progesterone contributes too, but I'm also pregnant, so that might be what it's really from;.

I took it after my IUI cycle. I did Clomid, a Gonal-F injection and an Ovidrel trigger shot. Yes, the side effects are kind of nasty and you do need to constantly wear a liner. I am now pregnant and I think it has helped. Hard to say what's progesterone based and what's pregnancy based. I did do a prior Clomid Cycle where I took the Prometrium/Progesterone orally at night only. It made me sleep like a log but I was very irritable.

I would do what your doctor suggests. They really should have given you good instructiond, but usually you start the pills the day after the IUI.

It's supposed to help maintain a pregnancy. In my case, my levels were not increasing at the pace they were supposed to and the dr was concerned so she put me on it. Definitely wear a liner like a previous poster said. Good luck!

@MaisyMay: When did you start using the suppositories? My doctor said to start using mine after I've ovulated. Just curious what other people's doctors are saying since mine wasn't that helpful.

@Darling: I've heard the same thing - it can delay ovulation if you take it sooner than that.
