I only seem to get around to pumping once or twice a day. One pump is for the bottle that DH gives R every night. Then the other pump I am starting my freezer stash.
Tonight I could only pump for 10 minutes, fussy, fussy baby tonight, and I got 3ozs. So I poured that into a bag and put in the freezer.
It seems really wasteful to only put 3ozs in a bag that holds 6ozs. Can I keep in the fridge for another day, then tomorrow pump, pour in the same bag and then freeze?

Yes. I let mine get cool in the fridge before combining with the already cold milk, though. You may want to freeze some smalle bags though! I plan on combining frozen with fresh as I work through my stash so I am freezing some smaller bags to add to smaller bottles !

Oh, but you might want. to save in fewer ounces (say around 4 or so).

If you plan on building a serious stash or are pumping when you go back to work I any recommend the milk maid app enough ! I loooove it and it has helped me keep everything straight and know what's where ( fridge, side by side freezer, deep freeze). But - I'm totally OCD so it may just be my craziness that makes me feel like I "need" an organizational app for pumping

A. Make sure you don't mix cool and warm (Just pumped milk). You'll want to refrigerate all milk before combining.
B. You may think it's wasteful to put 3oz in a 6 oz bag... but don't forget to think about the other side. It might be wasteful to thaw 6 oz of milk if you only need 4 
For some reason I've ALWAYS (for 3 years) frozen my milk in 4 oz increments. This just works for me when it comes to how much I need to thaw out and *hopefully* not waste any liquid gold!

I;ve done that but as PPs have mentioned I have also purposely stored some smaller amounts - only because it was recommended to do so. I still don't know how and when I am going to use my ever growing freezer stash!

For those of you with a stash that starts to outgrow your freezer... or you just don't end up needing it... please consider donating. http://www.hm4hb.net/ Human Milk for Human Babies has lots of 'local' FB pages. I was a freaking cow for a while early on and was able to donate to a good friend who was in need. It's pretty cool that you can not only nourish your own baby but help another baby as well!! (I've always made sure to keep at least 300 oz on hand for my daughter in case I need to go on a trip or some other emergency comes up - but the rest I donate).

@Smurfette: does your LO drink 6oz? If not then you might want to put a smaller amount in the bag. Yes you can thaw out the milk and pour out what you want and put the rest in the refrigerator but you cannot refreeze thawed milk.

@bunnylove08: right now no. She is only 3 weeks. I was just thinking 6oz bag would be fine once we start day care at 12 weeks. But I will take everyone's advice and freeze smaller bags as well. Thanks!
