@peachykeen: I definitely wouldn’t pump in my cube. But high walls and a frosted door make it sound almost office like. Can people look down into your cube?

I assume noise would be a factor but a whole department could hear me pump from inside my designated pumping room so they might just have to deal with that.

I would consider it considering the high walls and frosted glass door. It sounds like your work is a professional place with an HR person to whom you could complain if anyone made you feel uncomfortable about pumping in your own "office". Put a nice "do not disturb" sign on your door or even one of those special "i'm pumping" type signs I've seen on etsy. Set your pump on the carpeted ground, or on a top of a stack of papers on your desk and it shouldn't make too much noise. I'm a super modest, conservative person, but I'd definitely consider doing this. Good luck!!

I would talk to HR about an alternative, but if I would do it if I didn't have a choice. I honestly wouldn't be offended if someone was pumping near me.

I would definitely consider pumping in my cubicle! Especially since the pumping room sounds like a logistical nightmare. I am pretty open about my body/breastfeeding etc though (probably because I am a nurse and work with breastfeeding/pumping every day in NICU).

@peachykeen: I would do it. I usually pumped with a lose shirt pulled right down over top (I had a hands free bra). No one could see a thing. I was very slick!

I would without hesitation in that situation, but I am not weird at all about people hearing my pump or even if someone walks in. Whatever. It's just boobs and this is what they're designed to do!

I would, pumping on your schedule is so much better. As long as the noise is not a problem for others. I pumped in my office for over a year, I had a frosted glass door that I put wrapping paper over to ensure no one could see in. A complete security violation but it made my time at work much easier.

100% yes. I wouldn’t care if people heard my pump. Not like it’s an annoying sound, just that they’d be knowing I was pumping/thinking about my boobs. but I’m guessing most of your co workers know you have a newborn and there’s a good chance you’re nursing! I had a freemie which would have been great for this situation.

I would definitely do it. Unless your pump is super noisy, I don't think people would even notice. Just maybe hang something in your door so no one barges in.

I have no shame, so yes, I'd totally do that if it were not convenient for me to get to the lactation room. I would probably try to work into that schedule, but if it didn't work out (either as a whole, or on certain days), I'd just go for it at my desk.

But I'm also the person who will pump just about anywhere with a nursing cover overtop By the 3rd kid, my boobs seem like the least sexual thing ever, so I could give a crap whether people are thinking about them! haha.

I'd do it, mainly for the reason that I could then get work done while pumping, get in my hours, and leave on time. Not sure how your workplace handles this, but if you have to clock out to pump in the lactation room, pumping at your desk could allow you to keep working. Especially early on, I felt like every minute at work was one away from my baby.

@peachykeen: I was always very weird about where I pumped. I basically avoided pumping at work as much as possible because I was weirded out by the hygiene issues and privacy. So I personally would not be able to pump in a cube. Does your sliding door lock?
