I am especially interested in anyone who had alternative type schedules than the typical 9-5.
My baby is 8 months and I went back to work at 5 months. I work evening shift 3pm-11pm. I typically try to nurse him at 2 pm before I leave but sometimes he is napping so then it's more like 1. Then I bring him to bed with me when I get home and nurse him around midnight or a bit later.
1-2pm nurse
5pm-first pump (while I eat dinner). Usually get about 8-9 oz
9pm-second pump. Usually get 6-7 oz.
12 midnight nurse
Unfortunately my baby never has really taken to bottles, and barely drinks while I am gone. 8 oz would be a lot, 4 oz is more typical. Luckily this means I don't have to worry about pumping output, I just pump enough to keep my supply. I had so much frozen milk I donated some. I hate wasting it every day, since I prepare him like 3 4 oz bottles just in case.
) my DH uses frozen milk. Then every day after that I prep 4 bottles of fresh pumped milk. If he doesn't eat the 4th bottle, I put a nipple and cover on that one (instead of just the screw top) and instruct the nanny to feed him that one first. That way I know if there's a bottle left, it is only 1 day old. Repeat. On Thursday, my last day at work that week, I freeze everything I pump during the day, and the "left-over" bottle becomes the week-end, running errands bottle. Hope that helps!
