We are looking to get our LO a twin mattress for her big girl room. I am not sure what to look for thought? Costco has a Sealy for $150 (just mattress) and has these specs:
520 InnerSpring Coils
14 Guage
Twin Coil Density - 378

When we were looking for a twin mattress for DD's room. We went with a brand we would buy for ourselves (Original Mattress Factory) and then chose the middle of the line. Basically we wanted quality that would last and a brand we trusted.

i dont know too much about mattresses, but i would just make sure that it is not too soft (i think i heard that firm mattresses are generally better for us), and made of reasonable materials.
my parents had for me a firm foam mattress from ikea for most of my life and i love it to this day! i don't know about any possible toxicity of the foam, but firmness wise i really liked it and still love to go home and sleep on it when we visit.

I don't know much but I plan on buying a extra firm mattress from a known brand!

We got the boys mattresses from Ikea. They seem pretty nice, just firm enough. I love to lay on them haha. The boys have never said they were uncomfortable...

I wish we were close to an Ikea but the closest one is like 5 hours away. Its a bit far for a mattress.
From what I have read today, the gauge of the springs goes from usually 12.5-15 with 15 gauge being the softest. I may keep looking for something with firmer coils.

Just based on the specs it sounds like its a firm mattress. I would check if it has reinforced corners that wont sag as well.

@.twist.: Do you know what Ikea mattress you have? I looked at shipping and its only $50 which may be ok if its a cheaper mattress.

We went to Sleep Country and got DS a mattress specifically sized for his bed (Ikea KURA, the reversible one)... Apparently it's called a bunkie and it's pretty comfy. He likes it

@T.H.O.U.: I think they're either the Sultan Havberg or the Sultan Hurva, I can't really remember though. I can check once I get home tonight
