So, my pregnancy was confirmed today and I'm over the moon! But I'm having a hard time accepting it because it doesn't seem real. My beta was 16 on Friday and 41 today. My question is... why did my digital home test and regular home tests show up positive on Friday if there was only 16HCG in my system? Their sensitivity is 25+. I'm worried that the RE's office got it wrong and it was 116 or something on Friday and, therefore, lower today. Am I insane or what?! My RE's office is extremely professional but I'm still second-guessing and wanting to go buy more tests.
After waiting to make sure it wasn't the trigger and trying for so very long, my mind is racing and I'm not able to fully feel the joy.

Tests only guarantee being able to pick up a certain level it doesn't mean they don't often pick up less! I'm know it's hard accepting that it's true but you are pregnant! Maybe ask for a third set if betas to ease your mind?

Deeeeeeep breaths. Blood tests don't make mistakes like that. I'm quite sure your RE's office would have double checked the first result to compare to today's result before calling you so if any mistake had been made they would have caught it. The tests give a range of sensitivity on the box but depending on the circumstances (time of day, concentration of urine) they can be more or less sensitive. Two days ago you got a positive test then multiple negative tests which makes total sense if you were only at a 16. I know it's surreal but girl you are definitely pregnant!!

I agree, the tests aren't that consistent when levels are so low. But your levels raised very nicely, so you're doing well so far, congrats!

Your first positive was your trigger. The multiple negatives after that were your levels being too low for detection. You actually are pregnant which the blood test told you, not the 1st positive test. This is my theory because of all the negatives you got after the initial positive.

I think pregnancy tests are way more sensitive than they advertise. A cheapie test picked up my pregnancy at 8dpo when my levels would have likely been <25.

Some tests can detect better than their stated sensitivity as well...

If it makes you feel better, I had a positive digi at 12 DPO, and then got a negative digi at 13 DPO. I opened both tests, looked at both lines inside, and saw that 13 DPO was darker than 12 DPOs! Digitals are finicky, and I'm still pregnant at 13 weeks, so if you want to keep POASing (which I totally did!!!!), I'd use FRERs. Congrats again!!

I'm feeling much better about it now. I think I just had a little freak-out moment. I know the RE wouldn't make a mistake. I'm spending too much brain power trying to calculate and make sure... my DH thinks I've gone insane. Time to just relax and enjoy the fact that it's real! Thank you girls!!!

@CatchAFallingStar: I got a positive with the weeks estimator digital in the evening and the next morning got betas done. They were 18! So they can definitely pick up that low. 15 weeks now. H&H 9 months!

Blood test are definite so don't let your mind worry you are pregnant

My first BFP was at 10 DPO (Wondfo and FRER) A blood test that day showed my hcg level was only a 7! Tests can be very sensitive.

I got a positive on a frer and my first beta was 17. You're pregnant!

I think the previous posters have explained how it works with the home tests. At this point the betas are much more precise and will tell you so much more than any test you can take at home. So I know it's really hard but try to trust in your little bean, because you will be doing that for a long time to come...it's good practice!

@CatchAFallingStar: Trust that your doctor/nurse read the report correctly. Take a deep breath. Everything looks great to this point. Agree with @spaniellove 110%! BTW--apparently HPT can and do sometimes pick up HCG levels in the single digits (so said my old OB)! (ditto what @septca: said...) Thinking of you!

Mama, you are totally pregnant. I get the anxiety... I was a basket case when I was pregnant with LO after a miscarriage, but I think it's time to embrace being pregnant. Blood tests are reliable and there's no way your beta would increase if you weren't pregnant.
Unfortunately, if anything goes wrong, no amount of preparing or worrying in advance is going to help... and if things go right (most likely scenario), you will have stressed yourself out needlessly.
When I was pregnant with LO, I started off saying things like, "Well, if this one sticks...", "If everything's ok..." and my sister put the kibosh on that and said no more... things WILL be fine, I don't want you to think or say anything differently. I found that not allowing myself to say things like that helped me to stop thinking them somewhat less!

I totally understand your anxiety, trust me. I was a hot mess during my pregnancy because of a previous m/c. However, I got very faint BFPs that gradually got darker starting at 8-9 dpo. I had a beta done at 10dpo and it was 32, so it was probably 15ish when I got that first BFP! Deep breaths, mama, you're totally pregnant
