Xander (14 months) is pretty terrible with table foods. As in, he mostly won't eat them. He'll only really eat grains (bread, english muffins, bagels, crackers, etc).
So lately I've just been trying to always offer him an array of table foods prior to breaking out the purees. I usually offer a meat, a grain, and some fruits and veggies. He pretty much doesn't touch them except to maybe thrown them on the floor (or if the grain is something he's familiar with, he'll just eat that). Sometimes he even seems freaked out to have the food in front of him and seems to be trying to get rid of it.
I'm assuming I should just keep offering, but does anyone have any advice? Should I offer him the same thing multiple days in a row or switch it up every day? I've also tried eating with him to show him that it's food and stuff, but that doesn't seem to work - it's like he knows I'm trying to trick him, haha.
But maybe I could try doing the same thing with banana. He's eating banana a couple times just cut up, but now he won't touch it, but he likes banana puree, so maybe I can try mashing it so it's chunky and then making it more and more chunky.
