There may be an obvious answer, but I'm not seeing it (and it wasn't covered in my breastfeeding class (and I forgot to ask!)). Pending any problems/complications, my hospital encourages immediate skin to skin and breastfeeding after birth (while in the delivery room). When you put the baby to your breast for the first time, how long does he/she stay there for? Since you aren't producing any milk yet do you just let him hang out there? Do you switch breasts? How many time should you attempt to feed within the first hour after birth?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
