I'm not sure if it's too big for what you're looking for, but it has been great for both our girls at different stages.

I really like it because I can take it outside and hose it off on particularly messy days.

The tray has 3 settings so it can be pulled further in or out. I have a very long slim toddler (he's 17 months, 22 pounds, and he still wears 12 month pants) and he's had zero issues sitting in it since he was a year old (when he was wearing 9 month old clothes and weight 19-ish pounds). I'm confident he could have sat in it sooner.

Not exactly what you need, but we have an IKEA junior chair for our 2 yr old, she can get in and out of it on her own, and she really loves it! At 1.5 she started fighting/refusing/backbending/screaming at the high chair/booster seat, so we caved and got her a big girl chair, and now she is very content to sit at the table again. She will generally sit and eat for around 20 minutes, before becoming distracted and leave to play, which we are okay with since she is 2.

We have the same one @gingerbebe: posted in her first post. We've used it for my twins since they were 14 months old and rejected their previous high chairs (which were graco space savers). We use them on regular dining room chairs, but we've also used them on bar stools (with backs) at our bar, and on the floor at a friend's house. We use them with or without the tray, depending on the kids' moods and where we are eating (kitchen vs dining room table). We love them!

@Foodnerd81: I got it at a year ish. If your kids can sit up by themselves it should be fine. It's not going to recline like some highchairs. But if you're using a lobster seat you're used to that not being an option.

I love that it is easy to bring with us anywhere!

We use/d FP deluxe booster seat with both girls from the start. Never used any other type of high chair. DD1 was sitting in a regular chair by around 2? DD2 will probably take a little longer. She's a litte more antsy in the pantsy!

We have the Fisher Price Space Saver chair and I love it. It's reasonably priced and convertible.

Our DD has this one and fits into it well at 22 months, but she's a tiny bit on the small side. However we LOVE it.
