Anyone use a manual pump you can recommend? If you use it in addition to your electric pump, when do you opt for the manual?

I had an Ameda. It came with my electric pump. It was okay, not something I would use regularly, but it really helped when I was engorged.

I used a Medela. It worked pretty well, though the top sometimes popped off if I didn't have it on correctly. I used it in the car or when we were going to be out for the day away from D for several hours. For example, we went to the US Open one day. I brought the manual and pumped 2x in the first aid tent.

Medela harmony was great!

The hospital gave me a Medela Harmony when I needed to pump there while LO was being treated for jaundice. It worked fine--I only used it for back up a handful of times ever...and it took me a while to get used to using it.

I had the Avent manual pump. Loved it. That thing is a workhorse! I also like that it fits right onto Avent bottles so it was less to clean.

I got the Avent when I had my first daughter in 2012 and still use it with my second, who is almost 5 months old. I love it!

I was hoping people liked the avent since I already use the bottles so it seems like that would be the simplest option.

I also have the Avent for situations where I don't want to find an outlet for my big pump (like when I'm shooting a wedding).

I rarely manually pump, but love the Avent one when I do.
