With DS1 I tried for a very short time to make my own purees. He didn't like them and I found my food processor frustrating to use for this purpose. I want to give it another go with DS2 and am thinking maybe a better piece of gear will help - but there's so many choices and so many price points. So what do you like/hate about yours? I'm especially interested in how it does for making different textures, ease of cleaning and getting food out/into other storage containers, and footprint in your kitchen. Thanks!

I just used ny mini Cuisinart food processor. It was cheap, easy to clean, and worked well

I used my food processor if I was doing a big batch, my hand blender for a small batch. I don't think you need a separate appliance. What annoyed you about your food processor?

@erinbaderin: maybe I just need a new food processor cause I think mine is a pain to clean. I think its annoying to scrape food off the blade and out of the funny shaped bowl. It bugs me when I use it to cook though too so that's probably the real issue. Its a basic Cuisinart but its probably 10 years old at this point...

Ah hah! I was wrong - mine is a Kitchenaid and looking through some reviews of current models of Kitchenaids many people comment that they're annoying to clean and the Cuisinarts generally have better reviews. I think I may have found my problem

I just used my immersion blender. Much easier to clean and control

I loved my baby brezzo. I didn't have a food processor (still don't, actually) so I wanted something. I liked the brezzo because I did everything in one container - throw the food in, set it to steam for whatever amount of time, and at the end of steaming, it automatically purees. There was a booklet that gave recommended steaming times and recipes.

I had a Beaba that only lasted for one child. For #2 we ended up using our hand-held immersion blender.

definitely get the immersion blender. I use that thing for everything. Baby food, smoothies, soups, etc.

We like our Beaba Babycook, with two chambers. It's nice because you can steam and blend the food in the same appliance, so there's less clean up. You can make big batches to freeze with two chambers.

I had a Beaba babycook. At the time, I was living abroad and didn't have access to a microwave, a large freezer or a food processor.

Immersion blender for sure. Easy use and easy clean up.
