Well, it happened. My backup pump died a slow and agonizing death today. I haven't had a letdown all day, am engorged, and hand expressed about half of what I need for today. I'm leaving in 15 minutes to go get a rental for the next two months.
Suffice it to say that I'm never recommending Ameda pumps again for regular pumpers.

Ugh, I'm sorry. I have an Ameda and it started slowing down at the end of our pumping relationship.

@swedishfish: This is my backup Ameda too. The one from insurance is dying a slow death as well. I'm so angry about this. Their customer service is horrible.

Ugh thats such a bummer! You are obviously such a good mama and so committed to doing the best for your baby!
I have been exclusively pumping since 15 weeks for Olivia and am winding down now. Half of me feels selfish but the other half is so ready to have a couple hours back every day.
Good job mama - miserable to be engorged and have to go through all of this - but you are clearly doing whatever it takes to do the best for your baby!

Update: I got the Ameda Elite today. That thing is a behemoth! The ladies at the baby store I rented it from let me pump in one of their exam rooms and I was able to get almost enough milk for tomorrow's bottles. It's nice though, the pump is gentler but more powerful at the same time. Hopefully I can leave it at work because it would suck to take it back and forth every day.
