What's the worst pp comment you've heard?
Thus far, the worst was when my neighbor asked when the baby was due...when I was 1 week pp.
Today, I was at a bridesmaid dress fitting and the consultant asked me, "when do you think you'll lose the baby weight?" Ummmm...thanks...

@simplyfelicity: Some people just must not think before they say things! Why would that be appropriate?!
A week or two postpartum, when I was still in the throes of recovery and breastfeeding struggles and crying all the time, my FIL (whose wife had problems with milk supply when trying to nurse my DH and his sister) asked me point blank "So what are you going to do when you dry up?" Innocent question I'm sure, but I was all like

Ugh, I was at a pho restaurant when an older waitress asked me how old LO 3 was...(less than 2 weeks.) She pointed at my stomach and said oh it looks like you have another on the way....thanks! I ordered fried egg rolls and she suggested the unfried spring rolls instead...less greasy and better for my midsection.

I was partying it up on St Patrick's Day on a trolley that my group of friends always rent each year. Keep in mind that I had just done a jello shot and was holding a beer when some girl asked when I was due. My son was about 16 months. I mean, my coat had an empire waist but still. You just saw me doing shots!
Don't worry, I'm a responsible mother and my parents had DS overnight.

Nothing major this time, but I get the impression I was a big fatty while pregnant based on the comments I get about how I look now. It's like a comment sheathed in an insult.
I did get a lot of negative comments about not breastfeeding E and my parents told me it was no big deal she was in the nicu for a week.

LO was only 6lbs when she was born, and last week my aunt saw a picture of her and told me she was "filling in too much, don't let her lose her figure ". She's almost 2 months and still under 10lbs... She's supposed to be getting little thigh rolls and chubby cheeks! And she is still small and not a fat baby by any means!

With my first, my mom saw me 3 days pp, and said "wow, you're still a lot fatter than I expected you to be".
With both of them, I have had various people ask when I am due when I was shortly pp while with the newborn babies.

@Mrs. Microscope: Her figure?! Oh dear!
When DD was born and we went in for her 1 week check up, another patient was admiring her and then kinda looked at me and asked "You're not already pregnant again are you?". I think my mouth just hung open for like 30 seconds straight. Why yes, I'm holding my 7 day old baby and am currently like 6 months pregnant. Duh.

When I was leaving the hospital after having DD2 a woman approached and asked how old she was. I said "she was born yesterday."
"And another one coming already!"

Wow! Some of these are just amazing.
The only really bad one I got was when C was 13 days old. An older lady said congratulations on the new baby, then goes, "oh and you have another one on the way! God bless you!" I had the baby WITH me so I was more confused about her lack of understanding of human reproduction.
@simplyfelicity: as if bridesmaid dress fittings are ever fun. I had to get measured for one like a month pp (for a wedding that wasn't for another 6 months, thanks sister). The lady was really nice and said how I'd have to take it in but better be safe, which I appreciated.

@Foodnerd81: Right?? Its not like many women are running around getting knocked up days after giving birth even if it was physically possible. Nevermind somehow being so far along already for it to be obvious to a stranger. The lady that said it to me had kids too. So its not like she shouldn't have gotten it.

@simplyfelicity: I forgot, I had the same thing happen when I was getting fitted for a suit. The lady was like "are you planning on losing tthe baby weight?". No, lady, of course not.

I got "you're all baby" a week after I had my first.
With my second, I went bridesmaid dress shopping less than a week after having her and the consultant asked me when I was due. I was carrying her infant carrier. (The wedding was less than a month away -- VERY quick engagement -- so I had to shop then. Awful timing.) The consultant felt SO bad and said she wished she had a margarita to give me and a hug would have to do.

As I was getting buzzed into my midwife center earlier this week, a woman came up behind me. I held the door open for her, and she asked, "Oh, do you think I should get buzzed in separately?" And I said, "I wouldn't worry about it, you look like you belong here!," judging her to be about 7 months pregnant. She replied, "Yeah, I just had my daughter here two weeks ago." I felt SO awful, I hope she didn't take it as a knock on her weight.

I am dumbfounded at the number of people who A) have no idea how human reproduction works, and B) seem to think a woman pops a baby out and leaves the hospital 24 hours later with a six pack belly again (although to be fair, until I started reading baby boards, I had no idea you still looked six months pregnant right after having a baby - but for women who have had babies, there is no excuse!). ETA: it's one thing if you're on your own and haven't mentioned that you just had a baby, but carrying the baby with you or saying that you literally had a baby yesterday? I mean, come on people!
This thread is equal parts hilarious and shocking!

Mine was "when are you due?" By a female lab tech who was drawing my blood 1 week PP. Um, you have all my info in front of you and it says that I was just in the hospital having a baby..so.....

There were two awful comments from my MIL - both when I was three weeks postpartum:
- "once you lose that belly, no one will even know you had a baby!" (I'm a pretty slender person and she is...not...but still offensive even though she didn't mean it that way)
- and another time, same week, after LO had been cluster feeding/fussing during the witching hour for 1.5-2 hours, I handed him off to her, he quieted down a little, and she said "see, all you needed was your grandma!" which again, I get wasn't meant to be offensive, but I ran up to my room to cry nonetheless.

These are hilariously awful! Mine was from my MIL coming into town about 2 months after LO arrived and making the comment that I, "sure do wear a lot of yoga pants these days."
Ummm, yeah I do, because smeared/dried milk, snot, poop and a poochy midsection make me want to wear my nice jeans at home. While I hang out on the couch with my baby.

Mine was actually from my mother. I had a spinal headache from the epidural and was re-admitted to the hospital to have it treated and put on a 24 hr bedrest. When I talked to her about it that night I was exhausted and very emotional. My baby was 4 days old, my milk hadn't come in yet, and when we gave her formula so I could try to get a 3 hour break at nighttime, we found she couldn't digest the formula and would just SCREAM nonstop during my "break" (so there obviously was no break). She told me "just wait until your hormones drop in about a week!" and "I never got breaks, I did everything all by myself with 3 kids, because your father had to work!" Then she proceeded to call/email several family members "hahaha the baby is the one in charge now" and that DH & I "obviously didn't know what we were getting ourselves into with having a baby." Needless to say, she was kept at arms length for a little while after that experience!

I was buying a Advil a few days postpartum and the cashier was looking at me funny while she rang it up. Then she finally asked if my doctor said its ok to take the Advil.

Someone asked when I was due when my 2nd was 1yo, and I said "oh no, I'm not pregnant" and she said, oh, still working on losing that baby weight huh? JEEZ THANKS. She was no spring chicken herself!

Your story reminds me of the pharmacist that wouldn't give me my post c-section meds because I was pregnant.

Wow. These are crazy! The "worst" thing that was said to me was by my grandma. In front of the entire family at thanksgiving she thought it was nice to yell across the room "well you're really losing your butt..." thanks?

My mom asked me when I was going to start working out when I was two weeks pp, and proceeded to tell me how terrible I looked.
I know she has body issues, but I could do without the projection onto others.
