How long did you wait after your c-section to have sex and how was it the first few times? We waited til this weekend which is 9 weeks since the c-section and it felt pretty uncomfortable, the friction was causing a burning sensation even with lube. Is this normal?

We waited 3.5 weeks and used lots of lube and it felt like sandpaper. We stopped and haven't tried again yet--waiting till 6 weeks like we were supposed to.

@pastemoo: wow you were brave to try so soon.. I wish I had tried right away after I got the go ahead from my doctor at 6 weeks. waiting this long has probably made it worse.

I waited 6 wks exactly. He couldn't wait longer. It was a little dry at first, but mostly because I wasn't really in the mood.LOL The more times we did it, it got better.

We waited 5 1/2 weeks, we used a condom and didn't really have a problem

We waited the full 6 weeks. We're still trying to get into the groove because my abdomen is still pretty sore and so it quickly gets uncomfortable for me. Well that and I've had 2 week-long periods in the 3 weeks I've been released.

Definitely waited the 6 weeks...maybe another week...it was not comfortable...definitely got better but then i got my IUD and things are uncomfy again

We waited about 5 weeks. It was super uncomfortable, so we stopped and tried again after the ok at my 6 week checkup. It didn't start feeling better until our third try. Just go slow and stop if you need to and it ends up being worth it.

Thanks guys, we tried again and used LOTS of lubricant and it got much better.. I cant imagine what it would have been like if I had had a vaginal birth

Wow, I thought I was going to avoid any problems with sex since I had the c-section! I was looking forward to after my 6 week checkup but now I'm a little worried!

We got the okay at 5.5 wks and it was incredibly painful for the first five minutes....had to verrrry slowly until it got comfortable. I am 11.5 weeks PP and I still get pretty sore when we do! Think it takes time and repetition...

@BeachMama: yeah I thought so too, but I was told that since I'm breastfeeding that causes extra vaginal dryness so that could be why i felt so uncomfortable the 1st time
