Our ped told us to introduce rice cereal at 5 months (that's next week!), but I kind of want her first food to be a bit more exciting.
Tell me your LOs first solid and their age!

@fussygal: No, she never warmed up to the baby rice! She loved tomato and red pepper puree though so I think the baby rice was just too bland for her.

Very first thing LO ate was a tiny bite of broccoli cheese soup at six months. After that it was banana and avocados for awhile before moving on to more exciting options.

We did avocado at a week shy of six months.
And then banana and sweet potato from there.

A sweet potato around 6 months. (It was Thanksgiving!) He was not impressed, ha!

@Espion: we have a very similar story! We wanted to wait until 6 months to introduce solids, but Thanksgiving was a week or so before that. I offered LO some sweet potato (or squash? It was orange!) and he wasn't really interested.

M is almost 5 months and tried sweet potatoes today for his first food. He liked them!
I think D's first food was sweet potato, also. He was closer to six months but wasn't as eager to eat my food as M is.

DS did rice cereal at 4 months, hated it and made him constipated so we stopped and waited until purées at 6 months. Dd is 6.5 and she is ebf.

@MrsRoo: @Sapphiresun: I was thinking avocado would be fun since it's so squishy!
@Dandelion: aw, glad M liked his first taste!

We tried pear at almost 5 months, and he loved it but his body didn't respond so well - awful diapers and a not happy baby! We stopped and tried again at 6 months with banana. In the end we discovered that in the beginning anyways, LO loved it if we mixed pear and banana together and it was easier on his tummy that way too.

We've been offering her things BLW style for about a week. So far, she has tasted a raw green bean, a pita, a carrot, and watermelon. Let's be honest, though...they all ended up on the floor she did like the watermelon, though! She is 4.5 months.

@wonderstruck: oh pear is a good one!
@LovelyPlum: lol. At least she's trying them! As we get closer to solids I'm wishing we had hardwood floors instead of carpet haha.

With DD I did rice cereal at almost 5 months. For my DS I did bananas a little shy of 6 months. I waited a little longer with him, probably laziness. But I skipped the rice cereal and pretty much did BLW from the start. Rice cereal always grossed me out

We did baby led weaning, and he had avocado wedges at 6.5 months. He wasn't sure about them.
