Anyone try shelf-stable milk? Does it taste the same as regular milk? Wondering if I should buy some and bring it with us to our trip to Cancun.

We always pack a few Horizon Organic milks for our roadtrips. It tastes ok...LO drinks it.

We use shelf-stable milk 100% of the time -- it's the norm in Mexico as in many other parts of the world. I have never noticed a difference in taste although honestly I never drink milk straight up anyway. My kids drink it with no problem.

I get it for D when it's on sale. He likes it. Especially the vanilla.

Horizon milks are great to throw in the diaper bag. N can't have them but when I was a nanny the triplets loved the strawberry kind!

It was the norm when I studied abroad in France. I don't typically drink plain milk but my friends said it had a slightly different taste.

I just saw this at the store the other day, and was so confused why it wasn't refrigerated. It kinda weirds me out, but it's organic so I guess I'd consider it for LO when she's old enough?

we've tried the horizon brand, and DD likes it.
I would just buy wcm in cancun if I were you though.

@chopsuey: I couldn't decide if I should bring my own or buy there! Wasn't sure if it's easy to find organic whole milk in Cancun or not so was thinking of bringing some just in case!

@dolphin: organic will probably not be easy to find in Cancun unless you're planning to go to walmart or something. Which is not a big destination on most people's Cancun vacations!

@mamimami: @danda: same for us. We lived in France just after my son switched to WCM and it was all shelf stabilized milk. It's totally fine. Well, I hate milk, so I didn't drink it, but my son and husband were fine with it.

I hate it. But I buy it when we are in third world countries. Parmalot... bleck.

We live abroad as well and it's what a lot of the expat parents give to their kids, just because they know it's safe compared to some of the local brand fresh milk.

@mamimami: We were just in Cabo a few weeks ago and my sister in law insisted on going to Costco. Just because.
I chose to stay at the pool.

We took it with us on our last trip - was very convenient to have on the long flights and in the hotel room. I didn't want to have to think about buying milk when I was there, getting a fridge, etc. LO drank it, but I don't think he liked it as much as regular, cold WCM.
