Hi all--For anyone out there that's had a short luteal phase, have you tried taking B6?
If so, how many mg did you take?
Did you take it your entire cycle? Or just after O?
Did taking B6 help you?

I took b6 and it didn't help my LP. I took 100mg a day for about 90 days before nixing it (and got pregnant 2 months after that). I did take it the entire cycle.
I have a short LP (9-10) days and was able to get pregnant, so it CAN happen.

I take B6 from after O until AF because my cycles are so long (40-50 days) and I'm scared that it could delay O even more (I read that some people experience that).
I take 100 mg a day. For my first cycle off BC, my LP was only 9 days. Then I took B6 the next cycle and my LP lengthened to 11 days. I don't know if it was my body just regulating off BC or if the B6 helped. I'm now 4dpo, so we'll see what happens this cycle.

I started taking it. Not sure if it helped, but I got pregnant as soon as I started on it!

I took B6 for a couple months, only 50mg a day though I think.... I didn't really notice a difference in my LP, but I did get pregnant 3 months after starting it.

I took 500mg per day (with doctor's supervision) and saw neither an improvement in my LP length/consistency nor an increase in CM (my other issue it was supposed to address). After three months, I stopped taking it. I got pregnant without it six months later.

I took a Bcomplex... It lengthened my LP from 10-11 days to 13 on the first cycle. Eventually got me to 14 days. I read that you need to take a complex with all of the Bvitamins for it to be most effective. They have extra folic acid in them too, which is nice:)

My luteal phase was good (14 days) but I had 6 - 7 days of spotting first, which concerned me. So, I researched B6 and realized that I was eating very few foods that contained it. So, I tried increasing my B6 naturally first (fortified cereal, potatoes with skins, red meat, red peppers etc) and I also took 50 mg of B6 per day, but only for about 5 or 6 days. I did this all after I ovulated. I can't say that there is a direct correlation, but this did happen the month I got my BFP. Interestingly, my skin also completely cleared up on this B6 plan. I stopped the regiment when I got my BFP.
Oh -- and I had zero spotting!

I started taking 100 mg right after O my last cycle. I had a 10 day luteal phase with 2-3 days of spotting prior to AF. I got pregnant this cycle so I dont know if it did anything but I continued taking it. I figured its not hurting and it may be helping and didnt want to stop until I got further along. Im 5weeks 5days today.

@Jumpingjacks: @Phillybaby2013: @jholler25: Thanks for your input ladies! I just bought some B6 (100mg) and plan to start it after O. My LP has been 7 days for the last 4 months off BCP. My OB did lab work (thyroid and tsh) and both were within the normal range. She said after 6 months if it's still not longer then she'll refer me to RE or do more labs herself. Figured adding B6 couldn't hurt in the meantime...we'll see. I'm nervous about "too much B6" though, I didn't buy a Complex to take with it...

I took 50mg of B6 a day - I found these pills at Rite-Aid that were tiny (about the size of a BCP) which was key for me because I can't take horse pills. I took one a day until I O'ed, then 2 a day (100mg) for my LP, but it didn't lengthen it at all.
Anecdotally, it seems like the people who have luck with B6 are coming off of BCP - maybe it helps your body regulate faster? I have a 9 day LP, so I'm going to try progesterone cream during my LP this time to see if it helps.

@eastcoaster: Ya, I was worried about taking too much too. Also, the B complex has folic acid in it and my prenatal supplement already has the full recommended dose of folic acid. So I didn't want to be taking too much of that either. That's why I opted to not take the B complex.
Good luck.

@Jumpingjacks: My LP is pretty long too (16 days) but a couple of days of spotting before, which made me nervous as well. Sort of glad to see someone else with the same issue.
I was planning to take a b complex all month, but now I'm wondering if I should just be taking it during LP? We are TTA for another 2 months anyway, but I want my body primed and ready when we start.

I also read that you should take a b-complex not just b6 alone. I took a B-50 complex - I can't remember if it was just until O, or for the whole cycle. My LP was about 10 days, and it lengthened to 12 days. I think it helped my LP but I don't think it was what made me get pregnant.

This is my second cycle taking a B complex, but it actually shortened my LP from 16 days to 13 days. There may have been other factors, though. I'm currently 13 DPO with no period yet, so I may be back to normal now? Overall, I've heard good things about B6 and lengthening LP.
