My son will finish a feeding but then likes to stay on the breast and look up at me. If I take it out: he screams. Eventually he falls asleep & all is good in the world...
Is this OK? I don't want to create a bad habit that will be a pain down the road to break. He's 10 days old.

I personally wouldn't have an issue with this at this stage. He's so little, I don't think they can be spoiled yet.

Are you open to using a pacifier yet? I had to pop a pacifier in his mouth after he finished because he just liked to keep sucking even though he wasn't eating (he would nurse for 40 min so I know he wasn't really eating at the end).

Not an issue at this point. Yes he's using it for comfort but he will grow out of it. Pretty soon you could try a paci f you have a good breastfeeding relationship too.

That is my biggest parenting regret that I let her stay on the boob even if she is not eating. Now that is the only way she will fall asleep. She is almost 6 months.
ETA: hah OK maybe I over reacted a tad seeing as he's only 10 days old. But seriously, be cognizant of this and don't let it become a habit like I did.

I think it's fine. I let my LO comfort nurse and she can fall asleep on her own..

He's too young for habits to start. He will probably stop after a while. Plus, comfort sucking builds supply

Leave him. Enjoy these moments when he wants and needs to be close to you.

From your responses I'm thinking I should let this go on for few more weeks/months and then give him a pacifier to replace me...because I don't want him to need me in order to sleep all the time
