I'll try to make this short.
We're on the wait list for a great daycare/preschool for DD, but the earliest she can get is in next Fall. In the meantime, I am growing increasingly more annoyed with her current daycare. I have an option to move her to another daycare until the one we really want opens up, but I can't seem to pull the trigger.
Current daycare:
Pros:
- Webcam (so I can watch her and not feel like I'm missing out on what she's doing)
- Teachers that love her
- Teach Spanish, colors, numbers, and make crafts
- HUGE indoor play area, and a smaller, covered area outside
- Church-based
- large parking lot = very little traffic at pick-ups/drop-offs
Cons:
- Don't provide lunch
- Now make the parents provide the cots for the child to sleep on (they say they financially can't cover the cost, even though they have until this point)
- No nutritious snacks (meaning, no fruit or veggies - usually consisting of bags of chips, rice krispies treats, pudding or poptarts)
- No policy for biting (DD has had 5 significant bites in the past 3 months, and all the director said was "that's what kids do at this age")
Temporary daycare:
Pros:
- Much closer to my work and her pediatrician (right down the street vs 20 min away)
- Nutritious snacks
- Provide lunch and breakfast
- Large classrooms
- better teacher/student ratio
Cons:
- Have to bring our own crib sheets (for DD#2)
- Have to take DD's nap mat home every day (not a deal breaker, but certainly annoying to carry it to and from the car each day)
- No webcams
- Very small parking lot (lots of traffic?)
