Does anyone have experience with the Evenflo Simply Go Single Electric breast pump? I just found out that this is the only pump that is fully covered by my insurance. I have the option of paying a $100 upgrade fee to get the Simply Go double electric. I could also take the free single electric and then buy a Medela PISA myself for ~$135, and keep the single pump as a backup.
Did anyone use this as their only pump? As an extra pump?

I think it would be fine if you'll be a SAHM who just needs to pump very infrequently. But if you are going back to work and intend to pump at work you will definitely need a double electric for efficiency. I've never heard of Simply Go so I would probably rather pay $135 for Medela than $100 for an unknown brand.

I can't figure out how anyone finds a single electric pump all that useful. When you want/have to pump, you want it to be as fast and efficient as possible. Having to do one side at a time seems totally worthless to me. I paid a $100 upgrade fee for my Medela Freestyle and it was fantastic.

@ShootingStar: I could see it if you nursed on one side and just wanted to pump the other side at the same time (maybe during that first feed in the morning). But otherwise... agree!
@MrsBananaGrabber: If you're returning to work and plan to pump, you're going to want a double electric! Most doubles (maybe all of them) can be used as a single anyway, so there's no reason to get a single electric pump in addition.

@Adira: Ha, I still don't get that! You have to get the pumping bra on, and then arrange it so it's only on one side, and then you have to make sure not to spill or lose suction on the side you're pumping. Way too complicated for me, lol.

@ShootingStar: haha, you don't HAVE to use a pumping bra! When I first started pumping after I had my first, I'd pump one side at a time and just hold it there. I only pumped for about 5 minutes, so didn't bother with the pumping bra.

I bought one for my last baby on a day I forgot my pump. I loved the pump and it is the first thing I bought for this baby. I had a double for work. At home I would use the single and it worked best for nursing on one side and feeding on the other in the mornings.

I agree that if you're just pumping occasionally you will be fine with the single. I have no experience with the Evenflo pump, but I would take the free single and buy a Spectra S2 double electric (~$130). I've been exclusively pumping for 9+ months with a PISA and a Spectra S2, and the Spectra was a game changer! I always get more milk out of the Spectra and it is way more comfortable to pump. I even prefer my manual pump to the PISA - just my 2 cents!
