no tips whatsoever since my twins haven't started yet. but i'd like to know how old your twins are and what age you started the soft sippies. we're starting solids at the end of the month and wondering if i should start introducing cups too........ hmmm.

We started at 8 months or so and just had the sippy cup there just to get them used to it being there. They drink out of the soft spouts just fine but that's because they bite them and sort of suck at the same time and then the water comes out. But they still have trouble with the hard spout ones. Maybe they just need more practice?

Oh and my twins just turned 1. They never really liked drinking out of bottles and are still breastfeeding.

@Twintwinmamamama: i definitely think practice makes perfect! when my nephew first used a cup with the straw, he couldn't do it, but after practicing a few times, he had it down the next day!

Just keep trying. They will get it eventually. My twins took to sippy cups fairly easy but my daughter is not a fan. She likes straws and took to them pretty easily. Just keep trying different tops.

Same as @boogiebea. We went from bottle to straw cups. Much easier transition since we never had to wean him off of sippy cups. I would try a straw cup and see how they do!

Tommee Tippee Sippy cups are soft spout all the past 12 months. My 17 month old still uses the soft spouts so it may not be necessary tO transition. He also uses the camelbak and it is a soft spout and bite. He personally hasn't shown any issues with any cup style.

My son never really took to straw cups, but he can drunk out of open cups, which is the end goal, right? I gave let him use spouted sippy cups and he handles those fine too as well as the regular sport bottle tops.
