Both my babies slept in the rock and play. I tried a flat surface and neither could sleep that way (not that they slept so great in the rnp but still- better!). Our pediatrician knew t both times and never raised any concern. I had read the pros and cons and sleep won out!

The transition to the crib was hard with my older daughter- but she was a baby where everything was hard so it’s not surprising. With my younger more easy going one we transitioned to a pack and play and it wasn’t so bad.

I figured if My pediatrician was fine (and we had two different ones between the kids) I cared more about that than what randoms on the internet said. But I was careful to watch for flat spots on their heads- never had a problem but I always thought that was partly because they both loved to be worn in the carrier more than ride in the stroller.

I didn’t have one when my son was born but the rnp was a game changer with my daughter. We used it for night and day sleep until 6 weeks or so. I asked my pediatrician about it and she wasn’t opposed to our using it for sleep.

Both my kids had reflux due to food intolerances and the rnp was a life saver for us! They both slept in it until they were almost 4 months old. The 2-3 rough nights of transitioning to the crib were well worth the weeks and weeks of good sleep we all got. We never had any issues with flat head, etc. And for us, it wasn’t rnp vs crib, it was rnp vs sleeping on me because that was the only other way they were comfortable, so the rnp was definitely the safer option.

Second slept in a rnp for about 2.5 months and the transition was a non issue. I was glad to get it out of the way though! My pediatrician did recommend having him out by three/four months because he felt later than that would be hindering development.

Both of mine slept in it for way longer than they were supposed to. Probably until they were about 5 months old! OOPS, haha, their feet were hanging out of it.... They slept SO GREAT in it so it was hard to quit. No flat head issues for either.

Anyway - we did naps flat first, then to the night. To be honest, it wasn't that bad of a transition, took a week or so. I think many kids need to transition from something anyway - swaddle, pinky, etc... I found once they were rolling and could roll onto their bellies to sleep they were great in the crib.

We did. He slept in it from 3 weeks - 4 months. He still slept like shit (2-3 hours) but it was better than the 30 mins he would sleep otherwise in his crib or PNP.

He does have a flat head but I’m not sure if that’s due to the RNP or just his head shape

My third baby slept in a RNP for the first 2-3 months. Our pediatrician said it was fine but no more than 3 months. BUT he did have a flat spot on his head and we took him to a head shape specialist. When we told them he slept in a RNP at night they told me it was a firm no and couldn’t believe my pediatrician said it was okay. To be fair I don’t think the RNP caused the flat head but it didn’t help it either. It’s easier to move your head from side to side on a flat surface than in an RNP. Anyway, if I had to do it again I would skip the RNP for night time sleep.

I love the rock n play and recommend it to all of my mommy to be friends. My first son slept in it until 8 weeks or so and we’ll probably do the same with my second. Not sure how the crib transition will go with my second, but with my first we started with naps and then moved to night time. It wasn’t that bad but we still used a swaddle sleep sack. No flat head issues either. I highly recommend!

DD1 slept in the RnP until she was 8 months. DD2 is currently 4 months and she will be in the RNP for a few more months at least. My only concern is if they try to roll or sit up in it, but that hasn't happened so I'm not changing. DD2 has slept through the night since 8 weeks, and I fully credit the RnP!

I’ll be the bad mom and admit that after no sleep for several weeks with both our girls, they slept on their stomachs (8 weeks and 6 weeks). The RNP isn’t any safer than stomach sleeping (they’re both considered unsafe, with on the back in the crib being the only safe sleep position) and you don’t have the problem with transitioning to the crib.

Mine did, but I'll be perfectly honest, I feel guilty about it and am really hoping that I can avoid it with the next kid. But if I've learned anything as a parent, it's never say never

My kids both slept in the RNP for the first few weeks of life - maybe 3-4 weeks? Both of them had reflux, but we never had an issue with them sleeping in them for months and months. DS1 actually preferred the crib and slept better in one and DS2 we transitioned him early on because it didn't seem to make a difference in his sleep. The RNP was just convenient because it was small and portable and it was easy to grab the baby next to the bed after each C-section for me.
