Oh wow, there's some really pretty cakes on here!
We went all-out different and designed our own Beetlejuice inspired cake. We then found an amazing cake maker to make it a reality for us.

@Coco Bee: your grandma is so talented! Those penguin toppers are so cute!
This thread makes me drool because dessert is one of my favourite parts of a wedding! We had a cake, cupcake and macaron buffet. I tried everything!!!!

@Sammyfab: they weren't actually supposed to be penguins lol they were supposed to be regular birds. She used white/black instead of cream and black and I think that made the difference lol oh well
this was the photo I sent her:

Pretty cakes everyone!
My sister made our cake topper and my mom's coworker made the cake.

@Coco Bee: oops! I took a closer look and they are totally birds and not penguins! I was just focused on the groom's handsome tux (penguin suit!). I still maintain that your grandma is crazy talented!

We just had several plain cheesecakes with a topping bar. We decided against a traditional cake because we aren't cake eaters. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures.

Fun! I love all the cakes. @ali that is amazing!
I made both cake toppers.
*ETA My husband wanted a blue cake. Our colors were red white and blue on the 4th of July weekend. Everyone we told this to thought it would be tacky. The cake didn't come out how we planned it but... similar-ish. The layers were supposed to be separated with columns (air between the layers). And the decorations were different, too, but hey, they got the color right!

We deleted the pic our photographer took of just our cake alone. Haha. My mom chose and ordered this one.
I let her do a lot of the planning since DH and I were already married when we had our ceremony and reception!

@anonysquire: two things: 1) I absolutely loooove your cake table, the details and colors of it 2) rootbeer cake?! I didn't even know this existed! I would like a piece right now please.
Here is a picture of our cake/candy table...our awesome planner improvised and put the rose on as a topper. I had ordered a bunting banner for it but it arrived a day late.

@lolabee: It was so good! When we went to the cake tasting she said she had rootbeer and both me and my mom thought gross but it was the best thing ever. Rootbeer cake with vanilla bean icing. I was in heaven. We had saved the top of one but my dang cats ate it during our honeymoon. But thank you, my mom painted that table and decorated it and my dad made those cake plates with his laser wood cutter and old glass vases.

I didn't really pay much attention to my cake and gave the baker very simple and specific instructions. It ended up being one of my favorite things about our wedding! I was totally enthralled by it and even ordered a custom made clay christmas ornament replica of it off of etsy!

@caffeinated: Yay for croquemboches! Yours was beautiful! We didn't even think about having one, but our chef was french. I just mentioned that I didn't want a cake, maybe cupcakes and he suggested croquembouche and it sounded amazing. So glad he did, it was!
