This is another thing. My MIL is starting to ask why I haven't given LO any fish yet. To be honest, I always thought of fish as a food to give later on.
Thoughts? What fish? How to prepare?

The fish sticks from Costco are one of RJ's regular dinners. They are prepared with whole fish filets (instead of ground up fish) and have very little breading so I love them for him. He absolutely loves them. He eats 4 fishsticks, which is the recommended serving on the bag...! When my MIL was watching him she said he ate 5... haha. We stop at 4. I think we started feeding them to him around 20 months? I don't know why we waited until then... no particular reason.
They are expensive, but I think worth it for a good dinner that's ready in 2 minutes. We sometimes get home close to 6pm and we need a dinner that's ready to go immediately. We usually serve it with some cold pasta and applesauce.

@artbee: See, that's what I thought. But MIL keeps pressuring me! She said she gave hubs fish as a first food! I'm like, "whaat?"
@mrs. wagon: They sound so yummy - I want to eat them myself!

@Rubies: Don't let her pressure you, it's your baby you get to make the decisions! Would telling her that it's doctor's advice because you don't want her to get any allergies help at all?

@artbee: No way! She thinks she knows better than doctors! So annoying. I just ignore her, which annoys her. LOL.

We did it before one. But we haven't done shellfish yet. That is my question ... another thread??? Haha. I don't want to create too many.
*****When do you introduce shellfish??****

@Andrea: I think shellfish is a big no-no until at least after age 1. I *think*.

@Rubies: Whatever works for you! I only had to do that with my MIL once.... she told me that there was nothing wrong with LO when I told her that I thought she had reflux. She thought she was just being fussy. She was way more than fussy. I'm pretty sure even after the doctor conifirmed it she didn't believe me.

I haven't started with shellfish yet, waiting on that.

I started giving my LO fish at around 6 months, but she doesn't like it very much. I think it's the texture. I've made white fish for her.. I usually broil or bake it. She's had salmon too but isn't a fan.

We head to Hawaii at the end of the month so he's getting fish there for the first time. He'll be almost 7 months.

I think at about 7 months. We were having salmon for dinner so I cut of a piece for LO's lunch the next day. I just cooked it on the bbq.

We haven't given our LO shellfish at all yet. But we've given him steamed salmon starting 7 or 8 months. He loved it and has always liked fish over meat. He doesn't like salmon as much anymore though. Now, we buy frozen tilapia filets and just pan fry it with a little but of oil and sea salt. Or we'll get a fresh trout from whole foods, pan fry as well. I love that it's such a quick meal to prepare for him.

I think around 7 months. I gave her salmon, tuna, and tonight was the first try at sardines. She loves fish but I try to limit it to twice a week b/c of the mercury.

I was curious about the shellfish, so I did some research and according to the online sources, the old recs were after 2 years, but now, they're btwn 6 and 12 months, which seems young to me, as shellfish could be high allergen.
We've had success with everything we've introduced so far, so next week, I'll try shrimp. I am not sure how it will go down because of the texture, so I'll update post dinner.
