The past few days, I have had stabbing, throbbing pain in my left breast. I've been extra careful to pump that side to empty, feed her on that side first, and air my nipples out after I feed her. Any thoughts? I don't want to get mastitis!!

I get that a lot- I am super clog prone. I would just keep nursing the heck out of it! Hope you feel better soon!

Could be a plugged duct. Put a heat pack on the area before pumping /feeding and massage while pumping/feeding. Can you see a little white speck of dried milk on your nipple? If so you can also apply a warm wet wash cloth to your nipple on that side before pumping.

Pain all the time? Before/during/after nursing? When I've ha plugged ducts, the pain is usually in just one part of the breast (although frequently a large part). I've had the best luck getting them out pumping and massaging the heck out of the plug (take some ibuprofen because it hurts a lot). Even after it's out there is often some bruise like pain for a day or two.

My stabbing pain and some itching was the start of thrush. Any other symptoms?
