My OB asked me if I wanted staples or sutures...I told him I had no preference!
I had staples after my first C-section and they were removed a week later..
Did you get staples or sutures?

I had staples and they left them in for 8 days. By then, they were pulling so badly. I was relieved to get them out.

I had dissolvable stitches on the inside and steri strips on the outside.

I had staples, I believe. The resident I think, took it out while I was still there? Since I was there like5 days? Can't believe how much I forgot already.

I had dissolvable sutures and steri strips. Meant I didn't have to make a trip in to have anything removed.

I had staples that were removed before I left the hospital, then some steri strips that stayed on until my 2 week appointment.

I had sutures and steri strips. I know that they had to cut some sort of knot on the outside before I could leave. For some reason I remember feeling lightheaded.

My cousin (who's had 4 c-sections) told me that staples are more painful but the scar isn't as bad as with stitches. She had staples with the first, stitches with #2&3, and specifically requested staples on #4. The dr actually didn't want to do staples because of the pain, but she begged him because she hated the scars she had from the stitches,

If I remember right, I had staples that were removed before I left the hospital and they replaced them with steri strips. If not that, then dissolvable stitches. I definitely didn't go home with anything but the steri strips.

I had staples, I went home with them, and then had them removed on day 5, then were pulling a touch, but nothing too crazy. I would have staples again.
ETA - My scar is also very minimal, and I have horrendous scarring from a previous surgery where they used sutures.

Super interesting! I had dissolvable stitches and steri strips and I have a pretty big scar. I had minimal pain at my incision and a super easy recovery. Now I'm wondering if I should request staples next time...hmmm

I wanted to add that you can hardly see my scar and DS is almost 20 months old. I think it has more to do with the surgeon than with how they choose to close your incision.

I had dissolvable stitches and steri strips. My scar is very minimal, even doc has trouble finding it so I think it has more to with the surgeon than anything.

I had dissolvable stitches and steri-strips. Very easy recovery and barely any scar. My dr didn't ask my preference but I'd want the same again.

I had stitches and steri strips. There is barely a visible scar, I think you can kind of see 2cm? of a scar. It was remarkable how much it went down and faded. BUT BUT BUT! I have a hard lump that developed about a year later, old scar tissue under the skin. If i have another c-section it can be removed then.

I had staples. Had the baby on Wednesday and they were removed on Friday or Saturday when we were still in the hospital (steri strips were still on)

I had staples that were removed 1 week later at my OB's office. I then had steri strips placed on my incision for another 2 weeks.
