We started with avocado and then moved on to squash, sweet potatoes and peas. The only thing LO hasn’t liked were bananas and carrots…she flapped her arms and scrunched up her face for carrots and gave me a look like “WTH is wrong with you?!” lol
We are skipping cereal.

@LouLouBelle: Actually, rice cereal CAN be bad for them. More and more studies are coming out saying that babies shouldn't be eating grains at all, and certainly not white rice cereal. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/12/20/get-the-white-out-of-babys-first-foods.aspx

@Arden:. I was talking about oatmeal, as was the orig poster. And, there are studies upon studies for every little thing proving lots of different theories in both directions. There is obviously a reason so many drs still recommend cereal first. No one opinion is right!

Update - LO seems totally uninterested in the oatmeal. I'm not sure if its the food or the act of eating. We've stuck with it a few days and will probably move to trying some veggies in a couple of days to see if something with more flavor entices her. I'm thinking avacado, squash, or sweet potato will probably be her first. Her sitting in her high chair is too cute though!

@chrispygal: Was it oatmeal only? My LO won't eat oatmeal by itself, I always have to mix it with something--I've mixed it with sweet potato, butternut squash, pear, and apple. Maybe once you've tried the avocado, squash, and sweet potato and know she's ok with them--then you can mix those things with oatmeal.
