Is it possible to make cake frosting without sugar? Should I just make whipped cream instead?

I'm not much of a baker, so I'm no help
I do LOVE whipped cream frosting on cakes though!

Can you do cream cheese thinned with fruit juice? I would rather use a little natural sugar than a substitute, so I am no help, lol.

I would do a cream cheese-whipped cream-butter mix. I'd also rather use sugar than a substitute if i'm giving it to my baby.
If you're just doing whipped cream, just remember that you can't keep it out for too long.

If I wasn't afraid to try dairy with M I would do a whipped cream frosting!

Here is another coconut milk based one:

It uses a bit of maple syrup as a sweetener.

@MrsMac: have you made that one before? Will it be easy to spread on a cake and also is it sweet?

@regberadaisy: that sounds yummy! !! HOw do I make a whipped cream frosting? is this just regular whipped cream?

@looch: ok thanks!
@Arden: That sounds nice. but my LO hasnt had honey or syrup yet so maybe I'll replace that with fruit juice?

@regberadaisy: I've never made it myself, but I have eaten it. It's not overly sweet at all but I'm sure you could make it to taste adding more or less syrup. It was hardened up a bit when I ate it, but it's probably easy to spread before the coconut oil re-sets.

@Mrsbells: you buy heavy cream, chill your beaters & bowls in the fridge. When you're ready to take everything out and just keep beating the cream at high speed until soft peaks form. You can add whatever sweetener you want.
Also, no honey before 1! I plan to substitute with maple syrup.
@MrsMac: did you like it? That seems like a much better texture to frost a cake than the one I found.

@regberadaisy: Yes, I really liked it! There are dairy allergies in my family so that's how I got the recipe, but I'd make it even if that wasn't an issue!
