I really liked that post until I got to this part:
"My wife and I struggled for 14 months before we surprisingly found ourselves expecting our now 3 year-old son." I would've been better had he left the time line out... (Sorry, just having one of those days)

@LindsayInNY: yeah, I thought that too. It's a sweet article, but I'm a grumpy infertile and when I saw that they miraculously found themselves KU without actually going through IF treatments it made me pouty.
ETA: I just realized I've @ replied you on three threads in a row... sorry for all the email notifications and I swear I'm not stalking you!!)

@Shutterbug: I thought they had when he described monthly ultrasounds, medications, etc. And then I saw 14 months. Who knows. (And you are more than welcome to stalk me even, I like you!! )

@LindsayInNY: ah, maybe they had. He just said something about that they were just about to do all the testing...
"My wife and I struggled for 14 months before we surprisingly found ourselves expecting our now 3 year-old son. We were literally starting to have all the testing done the next month when my wife woke me up with the news that she was pregnant."

@Shutterbug: It was this part: "Even though the doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with either of us, she was the one scheduling the monthly ultrasounds. She was the one taking medications. She was the one physically being reminded every 28 days of the failure to conceive."

@LindsayInNY: why does the timeline bother you?
I tried to figure out if I feel disgraced b/c of infertility. . . I don't think that's the right word for me. I do understand the points he was making though and the feelings involved with the privacy of it all.

@Happygal: I don't know. Probably just because I'm in a crappy mood and in month 14 right now? As I read the article, I got the sense it had been longer and they had been through much more when they hadn't. Disgraced is one way to describe it - a biblical way, I guess? I feel broken a lot of times.

@LindsayInNY: later he goes on to say they've been trying unsuccessfully for their second child for two years... So maybe the treatments have been for the second child?

@LindsayInNY: Sometimes I feel embarrassed when I think of telling friends. I don't know why. I should feel broken--I once had my ovaries called "lazy" and when my lining didn't thicken up, they said, "That's just the way you are." I guess prefer to think of us as challenged and needing assistance.
This article did make me wonder how my husband has experienced it all. He's very confident that we'll have a family somehow, someday, so I don't think he's felt the same heartache as me.

Wow wow wow. I'm stuck between nodding in agreement and feeling my heart rip open all over again. It was 2 years ago today that was our lowest point ever - IUI failed and we decided to take a break from TTC. Only 2 weeks later we conceived the most amazing little girl I've ever met!

@Happygal: Challenged and needing assistance sounds much better... DH has been more optimistic and positive than I have through this. But, like you said, I don't think he's felt the same heartache either.

@LindsayInNY: I totally agree with you! I thought it was great until I read that it was just 14 months until they conceived!
