@Adira: I haven't used softcups but I do use a diva cup (similar thing) for my period and I have to say it is a game changer. Takes some getting used to but I don't think I'll ever go back to tampons now. Highly recommend!

I usually lay flat with my knees bent and my feet flat on the bed. I heard the same thing @Mrs.Panda did, so I figured this was a good happy medium. I do this at least 30 mins, then wait as long as possible to go to the bathroom.
Question:
How long after a positive OPK do *you* ovulate?

Does shettles actually work, or is all about the sperm? Like men need an ego about something else..

Alright ladies, we've been TTC (sort of) for almost a year now. And we don't do anything special. I track my cycle to know that I'm consistently 27/28 days. I don't bother with OPK's or anything else. It would make me crazy. I also don't test until day of AF. That was Friday. I also only use digital tests (again, I'd go crazy with evap lines). Friday's test negative. Sunday evening test, negative. It's now Monday and still no AF. In the past year my cycle has never deviated more than one day.
Recommendations?
Oh, and I'm not testing FMU - usually mid day. BUT, when we got our BFP with our daughter it was with a digital in the evening after work with no issues.

@anyajenkins this may be TMI but you need to squat at least somewhat and stick your longest finger up there, it should be somewhere at the top and feel like a tiny donut. If you still can't feel anything (you might have a high cervix or short fingers), then try and squeeze a little (like you are going to go #2) and it should lower enough for you to feel it.

@babycanuck: we did Shettles when we TTC #1. We did everything right for a boy. We have a girl.

@septca: Interesting! What's his family history like? Hubs is convinced he will produce a boy because it's all boys in his family.

@babycanuck: I read something once which critiqued the research shettles did and basically it was totally flawed. Personally I don't believe it!

@Mrs.Panda: @Crystal: Do you know if it makes a difference if you have a tilted cervix?
With DD I got KU on the first try and I did a pillow under my butt for 15-20 min.

I have also read that the more pleasurable the sex the better sperm quality.......you said this is an open place so I need to share this story.....the other day in the shower it was good good GOOD and right after Dh says call Dr.M...because if that didn't do it I don't know what will....lol I died laughing!!!!!!

@septca: Uhm, next to none. He said he wanted to know and then got total stage fright when I told him O was happening, so I keep that to myself now! He knows I temp (although not what temp tells me), but has no knowledge of OPKs/the fertility monitor. My therapist recommended I keep the "science lab" to myself so DH doesn't feel added pressure.
As an aside, if I don't get pregnant this cycle we need to have a talk about increasing BD. Hoping it doesn't have to happen.....

I saw a post wishing this was a gold thread. What does everyone think? I would be happy to start one, but I don't want to step on toes.

@AmeliaBedilia: DO IT. I made it more open so more people would respond (in the spirit of judgement-free, all-inclusivity), but I agree that I would be more willing to share on Gold.

@AmeliaBedilia: Yes, please make this a gold thread! I haven't comment because it wasn't but I want to.

@septca: why is checking CP useless post baby? Just never goes back to normal?
grapefruit / 4997 posts
@FaithFertility: LOLLL! Wow....my DH and I haven't had sex in the shower in a long time, probably never will again. I was 30 lbs lighter the last time we did and one of us has to watch DD while the other one showers now. So we take turns to be in the shower. Long hot showers are such a treat for me now. LOL

@anyajenkins: In regards to checking cervix - I stand with one foot up on the toilet and sort of bed over and use my middle finger (my longest) to check. I think mine is angled because it can be hard to find. I only know that I've found it because it feels different than everything else, haha. When it's low and firm, it feels like the tip of a nose!

@septca: Oh, boo. I'm not Gold, so hoping people still post here too!!

@birdofafeather: According to my MW (and in my experience), it's always kind of open after birth, so it's really hard to distinguish that optimal HSO from the normal state of things.

@littlek: I've heard that the (absence) of a female O does have an impact on sex/gender? Might be an old wives' tale tho
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
@littlek: according to the shettles method - For a boy, the woman should try to achieve orgasm either before or at the same time as her partner – or if you are lucky enough, multiple female orgasms can help! The theory on this is that the waves of the orgasm help to draw up the sperm quicker to the egg, again the boys getting a head start on the girls.
For a girl, Shettles recommends women avoid orgasm.

@septca: mine was pretty tightly closed when I compared it to its open state this month. I was actually shocked it could close that much.
@anyajenkins: I think you got your answer. The main thing to do with cervical checks is get to know your own pattern and remember than things like temping and CM tend to override it in importance. It took me a couple months to figure my pattern out and it still confuses me sometimes. If you aren't faint hearted the "my beautiful cervix" website can be helpful. Good luck.

@mrsjyw: Then I def will be having a girl. Eww, so if we go by this, I know who o's and who doesn't

@MrsMccarthy and anyone else with cervical tracking experience: I was actually looking for some more opinions about cervical position. I have been checking mine just out of curiosity for quite some time, and now that we're TTC, I've been doing it more regularly. Anyway right before AF it's usually low, super open and hard. Tomorrow AF is due and it's high, closed and all puffy. Just wondering if you or anyone else noticed changes right before a BFP.

@littlek: This is a super delayed response, but I always made sure to orgasm after him (which neither of us prefer) and I swear it's part of why we got pregnant so quickly every time. I saw a show that actually showed how big of a difference it makes in where the sperm start out that I was totally sold on it. (They injected some kind of dye that showed up on a scan approximately where the semen would be after sex, scanned to show where it was, then had her orgasm and rescanned to show how much it had moved. It was WAY farther up in her uterus.) I know it can't be that important, given how many women get pregnant without doing it or without ever orgasming at all, but it was important to me.
honeydew / 7295 posts
@MrsHansen82: it does depend on what's normal for you but usually it's high and velvety when you are pregnant.
@Torchwood: how do you make yourself reach O afterwards? Do you mean that you manually attend to yourself while on your back? I usually reach O at some point but its not always when my husband does so maybe we should be trying after too.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@MrsMccarthy: Yes, I'd lay with my butt on a towel (to avoid messes) and finish myself. I'm faster doing it myself anyway (30 seconds or so), so it wasn't a big deal.

On days that you have EWCM, what is it like when there is no EWCM? Creamy? Watery? Dry? All EWCM all the time?
