The post on NurtureShock: Kindergarten got the Husband and I thinking about schools for our little lady (even though she isn't even 1).
First, our day care feeds a lot of kids into the Waldorf Pre-School and then the Waldorf elementary. I know I don't want our lady to go to a Waldorf elementary, and I am pretty sure that I want her to go to the Montessori Preschool. Do you think a preschool environment shapes your child's education?
Second, we live within walking distance to a pretty good elementary school. YET there is one elementary school that has AMAZING test scores (one could call it a competitive school). My husband wants to see if we can get our lady into it. He thinks- why wouldn't we send her to the very best school we can?
I know this is so premature, but I can't help but think that it all seems extreme- Waldorf vs a traditional highly competitive school. I am just shocked that my sweet, good natured husband is kind of a Tiger Dad.
Has anyone else started to feel the schooling pressure??
