I'm on day 2 of pain in left breast- not in my nipple, just deeper. It happens when LO is nursing (not every time) and sometimes just hurts randomly (like if I'm not wearing a bra and lean forward). My OB called in a prescription for Diflucan, but I don't know if I need to fill it. Didn't see any white in LO's mouth this morning. I had thrush with DD1 but don't really remember. Everything I see on Dr. Google indicates nipple pain and pain in both breasts... thoughts? Should I get Rx filled and treat as thrush (boiling and sterilizing)? Or wait it out.

If it's deep in the breast I would be more inclined to suspect mastitis. For me thrush pain was definitely only in the nipple.

@Truth Bombs: I've had mastitis once before and felt like I had the flu. This isn't like that.

i have some random pain in my left breast sometimes--not quite the nipple but a little deeper. sometimes when i pumped there was a little blood that came out (which i had heard about from other people so wasn't freaked out), but after a few weeks it went away and i never sought treatment for it. i think it may have had to do with a duct that was starting to clog. that's not very helpful. anyway, i hope the pain goes away for you, diflucan or not.
