I know a number of bees have successfully transitioned their 2 year old to a toddler bed without any major issues. Has anyone had a bad experience with the change?
We're moving our son out of his toddler bed into a big bed. So, logically, we are thinking of putting the toddler bed in our daughter's room. Her crib isn't a convertible so we'd probably sell it rather than keeping all this furniture around. I'm terrified that she's going to start coming out of her bed. She sleeps really well currently and never tried climbing out of her crib. I'm afraid to mess with that.
Would you make the switch?

My girl is 20 months and we just transitioned her to a toddler bed...meaning we removed her crib rail and converted it to a toddler bed. I really didn't want to do it bc she's so good and never tried climbing out of her crib but my husband wanted to try it. She stayed in her bed for several days and got out once during naptime...I put her back in bed and told her it was time for "night night" and she hasn't climbed out since

We moved our 20 month old to a twin bed and it went REALLY well. In fact we just set up the bed but didnt plan on transitioning yet, but she asked to to move.

we transitioned liv from a crib to a queen bed (we had a spare) at about 17 months because she was climbing out of the crib without any effort at all. For us, it was a rough transition. She was up a lot, etc. Even now she gets up during the night and climbs into bed with us. I don't mind that, but the initial transition where she would wake up and get out of bed and scream was hard...

At 23 months we transitioned DD from crib straight to twin bed and she was fine! It didn't affect her sleep at all, nor did she feel scared or anything. In fact, she was very excited (and still is) about her "big girl bed".

@LivsMama: aaww, poor thing. she hasn't started climbing her crib yet. She has shown interested in her brother's bed so hoping her transition will be smooth.
@Rubies: yeah, I think she will be excited about it too. she loves climbing in and off her brother's bed.
