long story, short...i have to take a short day trip (2 hour drive by car one way) with my boss who i am very close to. i need to pump while i'm away. where have you found to be the best place to do something like this for pumping mamas while traveling? i'll bring a small cooler bag with me, but need to find a place to plug in the pump...the pump i use doesn't have an adapter (as far as i know) it's a medela symphony.

I have a swing & I was able to use batteries & just pump in the car.

Can you try out a cheap manual to see if it works for you? It would be a good thing to have on hand for on-the-go pumping, and I know the symphony would be a beast to take.
Highly recommend the Lansinoh that you can get cheap at walmart.

@matador84: I just checked & the medela site says the symphony has battery & car lighter power options.... Maybe see about getting an adapter? Mine takes 4 AA batteries & I used it probably 8 times over the last couple days for ~30-45 minutes each time (since its a single & I needed to pump both sides) and I didn't even need the extra batteries I packed! Either way it looks like you should be able to easily pump on the go.

I would totally do it in the car if you are close to your boss. The lighter adaptor is like $15 and the power seems just as good as the wall.

@Mrs. Yoyo: duhhhh, a manual is a good idea--I'll probably go with that. Lugging around the symphony is too much. @runsyellowlites: @Mrs Green Grass: the lighter adaptor is definitely something i need to invest in the future!
even though i'm close to my boss...i don't know how i feel about pumping in front of her!

@matador84: if you don't want to get a lighter adaptor that's specific to the symphony, you can get a universal ac adaptor for your cigarette lighter - it turns any cigarette lighter into a universal plug. They're really useful for tailgating, drive-on beach going, etc...

i would get a car adapter and pump in the car, with a nursing cover over me.

I prefer to pump in the car, but I have a PISA with a battery pack so it's never been a problem. I know there is a car adapter available for the PISA, bit sure about the Symphony. If not, get a manual pump and use that in the car with a cover.
