    Good luck!
I was obsessed with betabase with my third (finally sticky) pregnancy.

@SweetiePie: I looked up the formula to calculate doubling time and made a spreadsheet with a graph.

1250 today, and officially done with every other day blood draws! I scheduled a heartbeat scan in a couple of weeks.

They just said to schedule it in the next week or two, and I deliberately picked a later date when I think I will be 7w1d. My numbers are on the low end of the betabase range, and I wonder if it just took a long time to implant. I don't want any ambiguity around whether or not there should be a heartbeat when I go for the scan.

Congrats!!! And good call on doing it a bit later. If the heart rate is on the low side, it can be because something is wrong, or because it's just early, and the limbo sucks... (obsessing over heart rate versus gestational age plots was my version of obsessing over betas)

@ElbieKay: Smart move picking a later date. Always better to avoid limbo. So glad things are going up, up, up!

I had my scan today. The embryo measured behind my dates, and they could not detect a heartbeat yet. I went for a followup scan at MFM, but it didn't really tell us anything more. I go back on Friday but am not feeling too optimistic about this. Ugh. So much for avoiding ambiguity by picking a later date.

@ElbieKay: I'm so sorry I was there a couple of months ago, with a heartbeat but one that was consistently slow and slow growth. The limbo sucked. Thinking of you.

The saga continues. Today there was a heartbeat! Of 150, which is normal! But, the embryo only measured two days past the last measurement which was taken four days ago. It is now measuring a full week behind my opk-based date. Apparently the CRL measurement has a 1-2 day error. So now I have to go back on Tuesday for another check.

So, this is overall a positive development but it's still unclear what is going on.

@ElbieKay: I'm sorry for the limbo. This whole process is so hard. I think it's a really good sign that you saw a healthy heart beat, though!

There was still no growth measured at the scan on Tuesday, and the heartbeat had slowed down. So this is looking like another mc. I go back tomorrow for another scan since they won't treat it as amissed mc (i.e., requiring a D&C or a dose of Cytotec) until the heartbeat is gone.

This is not exactly how I was hoping to spend my 40th birthday on Sunday.

Thanks to everyone for your support, and for checking back on my thread. Sorry for the disappointing news.

@ElbieKay: I'm so, so sorry I had a very similar experience in Feb, first measuring behind, then no growth, with a heart beat that got gradually slower. We also needed to wait for the heartbeat to stop to schedule a D&E, which took a couple of weeks. We tested the tissue and our diagnosis was triploidy - the baby had a complete extra set of every chromosome (69 in total, rather than 46) - which is a fairly common random event that doesn't have anything to do with the age of either parent or any other condition.

I'm thinking of you and so sorry that you are going through this now.

@periwinklebee: I hope I can convince them to just do the procedure without waiting for the HB to stop. This is awful not to mention that it is wreaking havoc on my ability to function at work.

I would strongly prefer a medical miscarriage but my doctor recommends a D&C so they can run a genetic test. That will determine next steps (i.e., more IUI vs skipping straight to IVF with PGS).

I don't even know if I want to continue down this path anyway. Maybe I should just let nature take its fertility course and see what happens. Ugh.

@ElbieKay: I'm so sorry I hope that it is over quickly. I know all the waiting just adds insult to injury. This sucks - I wish so much that I could just make things work out for all of us here who have been struggling.

Not sure if you have had a D&C before, but for me I found it to be the least of the whole ordeal. Not too much physical discomfort, and whatever they gave me in the IV made me feel so calm afterwards. We were seeing an RE at the time and he also really pushed a D&C in order to test the tissue. Even though it didn't turn up anything we could treat, I think it put my mind at ease knowing what went wrong.

I can definitely understand not wanting to pursue more treatments. After my D&C it took 2+ months to get a zero hcg reading and I think it's common for REs not to do any further testing or treatment until it is zero, which can be a good opportunity to focus on your own healing and take your time to decide if more treatments are right for your family

@periwinklebee: Last time I went through this a little over four years ago, before I got pregnant with my son, I was not working with an RE. So, I chose a medical option rather than the surgical one.

It's looking like it will be at least a week if not two until this will be resolved. Ugh ugh ugh.

I am so sorry. I went through this before conceiving my son. It was week 10 when the HB stopped. I chose cytotec because I had already had a D&E that year. There is a thread on medical management here if you want to read a bunch of our experiences with cytotec.
