Anyone have any tips on how to make my milk come out faster? LO is a really, really slow, gentle nurser (4 months old and can nurse for an hour without emptying my breasts. Usually nursing sessions are still 40 minutes these days).
If I want to pump 2-5 minutes past when my milk stops dripping, I'm pumping for over 30 minutes.
Any advice?

I pump for 20 minutes every time. If I'm still dripping, I stop anyways. I just can't pump for a long period of time and I've heard pumping for longer than 20-30 minutes can hurt you more than help in the long run.

I'd like to know the answer to this as well! I'm pumping for 30-40 minutes and only getting 2-3 oz, so I feel like every drop counts, but I just can't be away from work for that long. If I stop at 20 minutes, I only have 1.5 oz

Breast compressions really helped me.

@hilsy85: @T.H.O.U.: Yep. That's with breast compressions during pumping. If I do it while she's nursing she almost always unlatches.

how about applying a warm compress to your breasts before feeding? hot showers always stimulated my milk. there are these gerber heat packs that i use to treat clogged ducts that you could use as well:

as far as pumping until there is no milk, i could pump for over 30 minutes and there would still be a drop here and there. it never stopped completely.
