We rent a two bedroom apartment and both our fridge and freezer are pretty small. My freezer stash of breast milk took over the whole space pretty quickly!
I built up 68 oz before returning to work. Each day my newly pumped milk goes into the freezer and the oldest milk is rotated out to be thawed for bottles. The new freezer my DH brought home last night will actually store our frozen food. My milk will remain in the freezer attached to our fridge because it is easier access.

We ended up buying a new fridge a couple weeks ago because I was worried our small, rental-sized fridge wouldn't cut it. Luckily we have a hookup for a fridge in our garage, so now we have two! I plan on putting my stash in the garage freezer, which I think will work out great.

I wish I had enough of a stash for a separate freezer.
I just use a storage container in our regular freezer. We have a side by side. -
@katsupgirl: it's ridiculous how fast my stash grew! We are going to take some over to my in laws too. I was obsessed with pumping and freezing before the end of my maternity leave because I feared job stress affecting my supply (which could still happen for sure!)

I'm thinking about buying a chest freezer for my future stash. I'm still pregnant, but I worry about the milk going bad if I'm constantly in and out of my regular freezer (we have a bottom freezer) for ice/food.

@cmomma17: nice! we bought a small chest freezer from home depot because we had no room to store our milk too. now we also use it for a lot of frozen proteins and freezer meals. After my stash quickly filled out regular freezer and then took over my parents upright freezer (they live close enough that it was easy to transport the frozen milk without thawing), DH got me a smaller chest freezer specifically for my milk. I filled that up too
I froze my milk in the regular freezer and then transferred it to the chest freezer for longer, colder storage. We kept the chest freezer (along with my parents upright freezer) at -4 F so we could get the longest shelf life out of my milk. I plan on doing the same for this baby, although hopefully my chest freezer will be enough and I won't have to take over my parents too haha.
ETA: I think our small chest freezer is around 7 cu ft. We got it at Costco for a great price.

@cmomma17: if you're going to build a significant stash, you may want to put some of your milk in the chest freezer because it lasts longer. The bulk of my stash is in the chest freezer so I don't have to worry so much about cycling through it.

The bulk is in our chest freezer with the newest in the freezer on our fridge. When I get enough to full a gallon freezer bag or two I fill them then move to the chest freezer !
