LO wasn't a huge comfort nurser as a baby, but as a toddler he definitely was--he nursed before every nap and night time, not from hunger but just because he found it soothing, i guess? We just did it very slowly..the nap time sessions were the hardest, but it only took 1 day, around 15/16 months, for us to nap train to get rid of that. The night time nursing he eventually pretty much dropped on his own, and the morning nursing session also was dropped really easily.

DD was always a comfort nurser but got really intense about it after I went back to work at 12 months. She started nursing for 40+ minutes every morning and doing the same when I got home from work. 40 minutes is just not doable before work.

I was actually shocked at how easily she weaned considering how attached to it she was. I stopped offering the morning she turned 15 months and she didn't seem all that bothered. If she asked for it "Ba?" I handed her a cup of milk.

I think I had a harder time with weaning than she did.

This thread is interesting for me, because we're past a year old and nowhere near weaning! LO nurses for comfort, but I think milk is still a big part of his nutrition and hydration too, since he hasn't taken a bottle since 7 months and hadn't really mastered drinking from any kind of cup yet.

When he had a fever last week, I was so thankful to be nursing because he refused any other way of dining that we offered. We'll see how this goes!
