For those of you with a reflux baby, when did you wean off the meds? DS is on Omeprezole and at his 6mo check the doctor said we can start weaning him off of it. We started by halfing the dose, but on day 2 he was hiccupping after every meal. I talked to the nurse and she said she'd recommend going back on a full dose. I'm terrified to backtrack on breastfeeding since we're finally at a good place!

I usually just let patients outgrow their dose. It's slower than a wean and babies generally tolerate it better.

We were on it for about 18 months. It just didn't work to stop earlier.

DD is 2 1/2 and we are still on once a day Lansoprazole, every time we've stopped or tried to reduce it comes back. She has a very severe case though that they monitoring with scoping 3x a year.

@Mrs. Jacks: how does that work? I get not upping the dose, but how do you stop all together?
