Congrats! I was a little sad but LO did fine and I was happy when my upper body went back to my regular size!

I agree with you about the last session thing. For us it was a process of weeks /months of on and off nursing strikes. So toward the end I treated each of our sessions as our last, and I cherished and was very present for all of them. I even took pictures and videos of that lol. But I am glad I did that.

I was devastated for weeks when we were leading up to LO weaning (he weaned me). So I was just mildly sad when at the last session he looked at my nipple, thought about it for a while, and pushed me away and cried. I was like, okay, here's your bottle

That was when he was 8.5 months.

Congrats! I was a bit sad, but I think that sadness came from concern over whether I was doing it for myself or for my daughter. She was about 8 months old and weaning was a for the combined reasons of needing to supplement with a high calorie formula (which she wouldn't take while the breast was an option) and wanting to TTC #2. Like you, I didn't know our last session would be it - I tried to formally nurse her one last time and she shot me down!

My 15 month old is still an avid nurser so I'm suspecting she won't wean for quite awhile yet but I'm already sad knowing our breastfeeding relationship is already half over. I dread the day she either weans herself or I wean her we are still unsure about what we are going to do after she turns 2.

I'm sure I will be. It's hard but I do love it. And unintended bonus- I get nice quiet times at parties when I want a break

I was surprised at how sad I was when Noelle weaned. I am already sad thinking about weaning Jaren because I do want to wean him by one year even though we are going strong... I don't know, I think I'm even sadder just thinking about it this time around knowing he might be my last baby.

I was sad when I weaned dd .. At 28 months!
Was depressed for days when DS self weaned at 10.5 months! Didn't know my last nursing session would be my last!
I pumped for the last time on DS' 1st bday and it feels really good to have my body back!
