Definitely try a straw cup. That's still what we use at 16 mos. He started using them around ... 9 or 10 mos?

@Coco Bee: do a HB search. I think more moms like the zoli vs the lolla. The biggest complaint is that the straws are hard to clean if you give anything other than water.

I think most people like Zoli better. I eventually got sick of both and threw them all out. Now I just use the really cheap take and toss ones. They are BPA free.

@Coco Bee: they both leak. The lolla has a hard to screw on top and the handles are inconvenient. For the take and toss, I buy plastic straws and cut them shorter to fit so there are no straws to clean since I use a new straw every time. You'll have more spillage using those with a baby but the Zoli and lolla are not leak proof anyway.

We started with the sippy when we started solids at 5.5 months. He would just chew on the spout and not tilt the cup back in the beginning. Then we tipped it for him as he learned to suck the water out. He perfected the sippy cup at 6.5-7 months. He used to be able to drink out of straws too but doesn't seem as interested in it as his Nuby sippy cup. He also loves drinking right out of the glass and we can't drink water in front of him without giving him some!

@Andrea: @regberadaisy: It's 8 ounces. Good size, straw is bigger than the zoli but just as soft. Easy to sip out of for M.
Easy to wash and hold too.
