Another vote for Happy Endings I watch New Girl and The Mindy Project and I get sad that Brad and Max are now Coach and Peter.

@babyjmama: I was in middle school when this happened and was SO PISSED. I actually googled and there is a youtube of who got shot, but after all these years I really couldn't remember any of the plot line. I know that there is concern a baby was shot, it wasn't the baby. The only other plot I remember is that some model (I think Amy?) was in a car accident and lost her unplanned baby.

The River, such a good show. The only TV show to ever scare me.

@Littlebit: OMG how could I have forgotten Deadwood?? That show was SO. GOOD. I have no freakin' clue why they would have canceled it. UGH I was so mad!

@babyjmama: annnnd I just googled again to try and remember:
Details: In the finale, there were 2 cliffhangers:
1. Carrie (Carrie-Anne Moss, or Trinity in "The Matrix") told Hillary (LindaGray) that Grayson (Emma Samms) had been using her model agency as a front for a prostitution ring. Later, Carrie got knocked unconcious by a hooker (Grayson was taking revenge on Carrie for this), and found herself in Central America, sold into slavery.
2. Grayson hired a hitman (played by Mitch Pileggi, no less!) to shoot her ex-husband Adam (James Wilder) for taunting her. At a wedding ceremony, Adam picked up Grayson's son Daniel as the hitman was ready to shoot him, and she ran out to prevent the hitman from hitting Daniel. As originally aired on Fox, that was that.
However, seeing the writing on the wall, the producers also shot an ending that ended up airing overseas and on reruns that aired for a while on E! (yeah, the entertainment news channel). Grayson was hit (and killed instantly), and her agency shut down, Craig (Don Michael Paul) proposed to Julie (Kylie Travis), and the models all joked about model Monique's honeymoon (Stephanie Romanov's 2nd role on the show... her 1st was as Carrie's sis)... while still not resolving Carrie's story.

Oh man, my husband says he can predict if a show will be cancelled based on how much I like it. The more I like it, the more it's likely to get cut.
My list includes Smash, Bunheads, GCB and Chicago Code. So good.

Deadwood (the city) only lasted for 3 or 4 years, so the creator never intended for the series to last longer than that.

@Worrywart: That's what I just came on to say - October Road! I 'd it so much!!

@dagret: But it didn't seem like there was a neat ending to Deadwood? It didn't seem like it was wrapped up. I heard rumors there'd be a movie, but that never materialized.

@IRunForFun: evidently the creator "doesn't believe in endings" though: http://blogs.courant.com/roger_catlin_tv_eye/2008/11/milchs-end-to-deadwood-i-dont.html (I know, still infuriating.)
Interestingly, the pastor who married us LOOOVED Deadwood. Even though it was Swear Central. They used the language to convey just how lawless that Deadwood was.

@dagret: Argh! That's one of my pet peeves! I hate hate HATE things that don't end!
