Do you hire a summer nanny? Summer Day Camp? Do you have the summer off?
I'm liking the idea of a mixed between nanny/day camp!

I'm doing camps but he's at a weird age where hes not old enough for some of the fun camps. I work from home though so there's a bit of flexibility. I didn't realize how stressful summers are with kids in school.

This is sort of a mystery to me-- my mom was a SAHM so, obviously, we were home with her over the summer. We would do camps for a couple of weeks usually, depending on our interests, but they were never primarily child care, if that makes sense.
DH's mom worked part time when he was school age and he says he went to a bunch of sports camps and has great memories of them. I don't know if they were full time or not though.

And the annoying part is most of the day camps (from what I've seen) end around 2pm??? Who only works till 2pm?

A lot of DD's Montessori friends who have gone on to public are back for the summer so I may do that. There are lots of camp options that end early and some of them have an after care option. I'll have to see when the time comes... I will definitely have to go part time for the summer to account for all of this time though.

I am already worried about this, and we still have at least 3 years before it is an issue.

Try not to kill them?..... lol
We've been doing alot of the activities the library has, he's gone to one VBS (will go to another in a few weeks), and is currently at the 4 day camp our church kids go to annually.
I'd like to make it to the beach, but we'll see if that actually happens...

DH is a teacher so hopefully he can do the SAHD thing at least part of the time and then camps for the rest.

@plantains: Ditto! DH is a teacher, so once LO is in school, DH will be doing daddy day care for the summers part-time with some other activities thrown in.

He went with my parents this week on vacation, but the rest of the summer we're just trying to stay busy so that neither of us gets bored.
