Or do they just eat them dry?
Or do they just eat them dry?

Dry or pure maple syrup for her to dip. She's almost 22 months and I probably only let her start using maple syrup in the past 4ish months?

I make them with apples and bananas so they are sweet enough when dry. DH will sprinkle confectioners sugar on them, but that's an issue for a different thread .

I am bad. I cut up her waffles and put them in a dish and let her eat them while she watches cartoons. This is only on the weekend mornings.

She's used syrup a couple of times but I like to spread a thin layer of peanut butter on them and she really likes it! I just started doing that about a month or two ago though (she's 19 months - we did introduce peanut butter at a year but it didn't occur to me until recently).

Dry for now (maybe with a teeeeeny bit of butter if we're out and the restaurant already has place a melting beach ball of butter on it). She's not ready for dipping yet (19 months).

We started giving her a small amount of syrup to dip them in around 18 months. You could put a but of yogurt on it if he doesn't like the dry texture.

@oliviaoblivia: haha if we're eating out I always ask for no sugar or butter and it drives me crazy when they forget! I will literally shake it off and scrape. LOL

They're sweet already (I make them with sweet potatoes), but she gets pureed fruit mixed with whole milk plain yogurt as a staple every morning, so I'll let her dip them in there if she wants. Sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn't.

Butter, real fruit preserves or a teeny bit of maple syrup. She also likes to dip them into applesauce or yogurt.

I guess we are the only ones that give her syrup. It is a small amount. Just started last week at 11 months. This is the only sugar she has had.
I didn't even think about peanut butter. I will try it this weekend.

Jam, butter, peanut butter.
Maple syrup if we have any!

Nothing yet. She's still too much of a messy eater for me to willingly give her syrup She seems to really enjoy them plain!

@BelugaBean: peanut butter is the best!! I even tried it once and it was pretty good.

@rahlyrah: probably like 3 weeks ago, so around 10 months. Our pedi told us at 9 months it was fine to try it. I just kept putting it off. I gave her a little on a puff. She has had a couple sandwiches with it since then. She isn't a huge fan of it though.

@Smurfette: For second I thought I was the only one who put a lil syrup on!!
You started PB at 9 months? Did you freak out- I am pretty nervous (I don't know why neither DH or I are allergic to anything) Uur pedi said to wait till 12 months- but I kinda want to try earlier since so many on here have an haven't had any issues

Dry, but we usually give her a little side of syrup to dip it in.

@cheert16: The pedi told us at 9 months to try it to try and fatten her up. I was too chicken and didn't do it till like 10-10.5 months. I was so scared too but neither of us have any allergies as well. So you aren't alone there.

DS eats them dry and if they are frozen waffles, he wants to eat them just like that-frozen! Such a strange little guy sometimes

peanut butter or apple butter. we use real maple syrup and that stuff is expensive! most of the pancakes I make have pumpkin sweet potato in them, so he'll happily eat them dry when we're out, too.
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
dry. though once we went to IHOP and they gave her a small cup of butter with her french toast. she at the french toast, and then ate the butter with a spoon! kids are weird.

I dip them in yogurt, applesauce or mushed up strawberries and blueberries.

I warm up a little bit of frozen fruit and mash it to make a fake baby-friendly compote
GOLD / wonderful olive / 19030 posts
peanut butter spread across, or she likes to dip waffles in yogurt (well anything she will dip in yogurt) or dry. No syrup, I'm hoping to avoid syrup for a long while.

i make the waffles with sweet potatoes, but i will sometimes put a tiny bit of maple syrup on them. If i'm feeling fancy, microwave some frozen fruit into a sauce.
He's not really a fan of PB. Plain yogurt sometimes too.

Butter and pure maple syrup since about 18 months (she saw is eating it with syrup). Sometimes I make blueberry compote (blueberries with honey and cinnamon) but that's usually only when we have guests
