Yes our chihuahua is a Dyson/garbage disposal all in one so never have to worry about food lingering more than a few milliseconds lol.

@PurpleUnicorn: aside from the dogs, his bjorn bib catches mostly everything, and i have also seen the plastic food placemats for under high chair at baby stores for cheap

We got a plastic mat but it ended up being a pain in the ass. We just vacuum after the baby eats.

I think they're called splat mats. We have tile and I just wipe it up with a cloth.

@PurpleUnicorn: I put newspaper sheets under her highchair then just scrunch them up and throw them away after. Helps sooo much!

Someone got us a babies r us brand mat that goes under our high chair but I haven't used it. I figured it would be just as hard to clean as the floor and it would be ugly looking.

ETA. I also have a folding up high chair that we put away because we don't have much space. So its just one more thing to clean and put away

Try looking up "splat mat". We have a plastic mat, but our pet rabbit keeps chewing on it and tearing it apart. It is slowly shrinking in size!

I just wipe it up with a wet wipe. Takes me two seconds and seemed like it would be faster than cleaning a mat. How old is your LO? Mine is 11 months (today!) and is really good about not getting food all over the floor now (because if it's on the floor than it's not in his mouth...my kid's a human garbage disposal, just like his father.)

Another vote for dog! We also have tile floors, so a quick steam mop cleans up anything else.

Joann Fabrics sells a splat mat kit made of oil cloth that I would have gotten if the messes were really bad.

Beach towel

If we didn't have a dog, we would use a clear plastic shower curtain or an old sheet.

Dogs / wet paper towel at the end of each meal. No special mat for us.

Cats work pretty well too! lol

I'd use a vinyl tablecloth. Shake it outside or in the trash after every meal, spot wipe what you need to, and toss it in the wash after really messy meals or every few days.

Yep we are camp dogie clean up duty. When we traveled I just used an old plastic table cloth, that way I could take it and shake it in trash and then give it a quick wipe down. Worked wonderfully!

Kid'z Katch! on Amazon. I used it at home and at restaurants. Made going out to eat with our LO so much nicer! Kept my floors much cleaner at home and I loved not having to bend down constantly to pick up her dropped spoon.

A 79 lb Labrador, that's now an 85 lb Labrador. There might be a correlation between the two... Maybe ,
