We do love our daycare as the two women who run it are excellent caretakers that we trust implicitly. But in an ideal world, I'd like to make the following changes:

- Open holidays and summers! They are closed for every holiday and a month in August. This is pretty sucky.

- More focus on learning (reading, writing, etc.). It is a daycare and not a preschool, so the activities are much more play based. Almost all of Charlie's friends from last year went on to preschools, but we kept him there because we wanted him there when Olive started.

- More older kids/less younger kids. Charlie used to be one of the youngest kids last year, and now he's one of the two oldest. I like mixed age classes because Charlie does learn by teaching younger kids (he often teaches yoga!). But he is the most verbal at his daycare now, and I do like him having some older kids that he can learn from as well.

- Organic meals provided. I'm actually not sure about this one because while it would be a huge cost savings and time saver, I know they would serve gluten and we're almost completely gluten-free.

I guess all those things don't really matter since preschool doesn't really matter according to that Slate article we featured yesterday. But I just know that he is capable of learning so much if given the chance.

What would you change about your daycare?
