Earlier this evening I saw a Facebook post of a friend of mine. Her daughter is a month younger than my son. What struck me is that the picture was of her 3 1/2-year-old daughter sitting in a highchair at a table. My son would freak out if we tried to put him in the highchair. He has been sitting on a regular chair with no booster for about a year. He is "a big boy" and doesn't want all that "baby stuff". The idea of him sitting in a highchair at this point seems almost laughable. He seems so big (and he IS on the bigger end for his age) Does your LO still use a high chair or booster?

My almost 3 yo can be persuaded about half the time to sit in a booster. She loves to use a "grown up" chair but has to sit on her knees to reach the table, and it gets uncomfortable for her.

@travellingbee: my 4 year old uses her booster seat. She doesn't reach properly without it.

My almost 4 year old just sits in a regular chair, usually one of the barstools at the counter.

High chair.
But it's a Tripp Trapp and is really more like a little person sized chair. She doesn't get strapped in or anything and comes up or down as she pleases. -
An ikea chair that's for kids. It's table height and smaller than an adult chair. It's awesome. She's had that since she was about 2.

My 3 year old sits in a Prince Lion Heart booster or just on a chair. He started refusing the high chair over a year ago.

I just posted about this. My 3 yo used to always want to sit in a regular chair, though she's too short. But then we tried to give her booster high chair to the baby and now she wants it back, hence my post...

@Foodnerd81: My three year old hadn't used a high chair in like a year, but when I brought it up for the baby she freaked out and wanted to use it...so now we have two high chairs.
My three year old mostly sits in a regular chair, no booster, but also sometimes sits in a high chair.

He just sits at the table in a regular chair and has for probably 1.5 years. He didn't use his booster seat for too long. Sometimes he sits on his knees, but sometimes not.
I couldn't even imagine trying to put him into a high chair!

LO has been in a booster seat on a chair at the table since she was 2 but she will sit in a high chair at a restaurant.

@Foodnerd81: same! My 3.5yo sits in a regular chair and has been for almost a year, but she has recently been asking to use the highchair because my 9mth old uses it now so of course, she has to as well. Sometimes I indulge her, sometimes I don't. Toddlers 🙄

My 3 1/2 year old mostly sits in a regular chair, although he changes which one almost every day! We do still have his high chair out (the OXO, which is more regular chair like when pulled up to the table) and he requests that sometimes too. It always looks a bit funny to me but he says that he's comfy there!

@travellingbee: She stopped using the high chair before she was 2. Wouldn't sit in at all.
She sits in the regular chair with a booster most nights. Sometimes she doesn't want the booster and will just sit on her legs.

DS is the odd ball here and we just fully "weaned" him from the high chair! He's 3 and loved that thing! He knew to climb in and ask for his tray when it was meal times, we didn't even have to ask him! We'd just say, let's go eat and in he went. At public places, he'd ask for the high chair. When we tried to wean him from it because baby sister was on the way, he would get upset if there was no high chair at the table for him.
Now, he's mostly sitting at the table in his own chair, but will occasionally ask for a high chair still. He's on the small end of the growth spectrum, but he topples out of the booster if he sits too far forward. And if he sits all the way back, he can't reach the table well. So regular chair on his knees or on his bottom while we help him.

M gave up the high chair around 2.5, went to a booster and has been in a regular chair since about 3.

4yo and he's been sitting in a regular chair at the table for over a year now. My 23mo also sits in a regular chair probably 1/3 of the time.

My just turned 4 year old DS still sits in his high chair with the tray at home as does he 2 year old brother. He doesn't sit in a high chair at restaurants and also refuses boosters, but at home he always sits in his high chair unless we have friends with a baby visiting then he lets them use it. He seems a little big for it but we have a high top table and younger DS can't be trusted to sit there alone and I know if his brother was at the table he'd want to be too so it works for us.

Regular chair at the table....has for about 2 years. She rejected the high chair and booster around the time she turned 2. I can already tell my 18 month old is well on her way to doing the same...which is not good she's small for her age and can't reach without assistance!

My almost 3 year old sits on a Tripp Trapp at home. At restaurants though, we don't necessarily always do the same thing. Sometimes she's still in a high chair, sometimes a booster, sometimes the normal chair or booth. She is very small for her age so it depends on the height of the chair and table, and her mood too (of course).

In our kitchen, we have a banquette thing, so my son sat there since he was about 2.
My son considered Tripp Trapps baby chairs, when we go and visit my MIL who still uses it for her 13 year old nephew, my son refuses to sit in it and says it's for babies, lol.

At home he sits in a booster. I don't really like him sitting without it (which we do at restaurants) because he's always on and off the chair then. He'll sit on his knees and then get tired like that and sit normal for 30 seconds, then he'll start sliding down under the table.

We are 4.5 years old, and since about a year or more ago, we have donated our high chair when we remodeled our kitchen. He has been sitting with us on grown up chairs with grown up ceramic plates and utensils (sans knives of course ;-)) since 3. Booster available upon request. I would say he would still sit in a high chair if we let him, but no, that thing is so ugly I am glad to be rid of it

She's been in a regular chair since about 2 theres no getting her in a high chair or seat even at a restaurant. she's 37" tall now and will either sit, kneel or get up and stand if she cant reach (to get her cup)

Mine sits on an OXO Tot Perch booster at home and on a regular chair at restaurants.

mine sit on tripp trapp type chairs too. My 3.5y old can sit on a normal chair no problem though.

Regular chair mostly but booster when she's eating noodle soup (she makes less of a mess slurping up noodle soup when she's higher).

My 3 year old is in a high chair. She likes it, we like it. Different strokes for different folks. I think we've avoided a fair amount of mealtime battles because she can't get out and run around. We also get a highchair for both our girls in restaurants, for the same reason. Boosters slide around too much and high chairs keep them in one place.
I'm not really interested in a booster for home, so I'll keep her in a high chair for as long as possible.
