My kids are 2.5 and 5
My kids are picky and I am all about simple stuff so they get leftover dinner from the night before 3 days a week and the other 2 they get turkey rolls, fruit, crackers, yogurt, and some other snack.

I pack things I know she will always eat since she's in school - like sandwiches, bagels with cream cheese, ravioli, chicken tenders, mac and cheese. I also include fresh fruit and greek yogurt for snacks.

@sorrycharlie: ha I often give him the same meals for lunch and dinner (not on the same day, but he often has chicken and veggies for lunch, and for dinner).

Erm, not quite a toddler, but close enough. I like to do one fruit for sure (grapes, orange, melon, etc.), then I often do a dairy product (yogurt, cheese cubes), carb (bread or pasta), and occasionally (depending on our leftovers) a meat. Yesterday I bought a rotisserie chicken from the store just before lunch, and she gobbled it up along with half an orange and 2 cheese cubes. Then she hardly ate her dinner, which was pretty much a repeat :-/.

@rawrasaur: my LO usually won't eat the same thing two meals in a row--I have to mix it up! I guess he gets bored?

@hilsy85: I'm wondering about that. I hate to waste food, so I don't like offering her something different after she doesn't eat other things well, especially because I don't want it to become a habit. Usually I don't do repeats on the same day, but she seemed to like it so well the first round...

@rawrasaur: ha I too have fallen into that trap (he ate the whole plate! He loved it! Great, he'll have a big dinner too!) only to be disappointed. I also hate offering othr stuff after he refuses--I try only to do it for dinner, and mainly fruit and cheese, because I'm afraid he'llw ake up (more) at night from hunger.

Also, this is the pasta I like to use, since veggies tend to be more work than I like to put into lunch prep.

LO is 16 months and has been super picky... she'll literally like something for lunch but hate it for dinner! We usually do mac and cheese, pasta & marinara/meat sauce, quesadillas, rice with cut up steak or fish, or breakfast for dinner. She HATES veggies right now and will only eat peas every now and then. Ugggggh.

We typically eat leftovers for lunch so we pack the same for her.
Last night we were at the ILs for dinner so DH threw something together this morning while I was getting ready. Pan seared pork tenderloin medallions, peas, apples and cuties.

We have just decided that for the most part she will eat what we eat. If not I just give her fruits, and I usually have some easy to eat leftovers like pasta, veggies, or I'll make her a grilled cheese or something easy. But mostly we are trying to just feed her what we are having.
