Charlie has been really into okra lately!! It was in a book which got him really interested in it.
Both kids also eat kale! But haha they don't know it, we blend it into their smoothies.
What food that your kid eats has been most surprising?

We were at a local brewery celebrating my new job a few weeks ago. D had gotten a pulled pork burrito, and it came with tubs of queso and a really spicy, chunky salsa that made my lips burn. E tried the queso, then the salsa, and then starting eating the salsa straight, handfuls at a time. Didn't phase him at all!
He's always seemed to have a pretty high heat tolerance. One of his first foods was a spicy jambalaya, and curries that I've accidentally made too spicy have gone down easily. He likes hot sauce on his eggs.

Sauerkraut! I get it on my hot dog at a local diner, and just for kicks I gave it to her to try. She made a wonderful 'sour' face, then opened her mouth for more. Loved it! Cracked me up, but I'm glad she will try the 'weird' stuff!

Venison! He likes it better than we do!
He has a pretty high heat tolerance for his age. I made enchilada sauce with roasted poblanos and he didn't bat an eye!

@winniebee: I'm so jealous! We are in a serious no greens phase.

He really likes guacamole, even if it's a bit spicy and spinach in salads.

Kimchi! She's BIG into anything I'm eating right now and she gobbled some up tonight.

J2 is a bottomless pit and will eat anything, but the one I think is the funniest is peppers. He will open up the fridge and grab one out of the veggie drawer and eat it like an apple or something. It's really bizarre

DS's favorite food is cauliflower. Raw or cooked doesn't matter. Surprises me.

She loves zucchini. I gave her some duck the other day and she scarfed it down!

LO is a great, adventurous eater, so she likes a lot. She loves veggies and spicy food. I guess the most surprising would be sushi - she loves it!

Raw carrots. Doesn't like them cooked, but asks for "lots of carrots" at mealtime.

@mrbee: Okra is my LO's favorite veggie! Delicious when is fresh from the farmer's market. Currently buy frozen bags of it at Whole Foods. Yum!
He has been fascinated with meats lately and frequently asks where it comes from. He was never a big meat eater and usually prefers veggies, which is why it's so surprising.

He loves squash! But only at my parents house... weird, right?
He goes there once a week for dinner and they seem to serve it often ... especially now that they know he loves it!

@junebugmama: that's how I eat peppers too. I love them as an afternoon snack! SO GOOD.
Funny thing, my coworker eats them the same way!

Anything that doesn't outrun him!! My LO will eat literally anything...the most surprising has been his unholy love of (tiny) whole dried fish that his Uncle Lee sent from Japan as a joke. I think they are sardines...but they are icky looking...

Ant patties. He tried them in Cambodia and liked them. I wouldn't touch them (but I was also nauseous from early pregnancy at the time).

Any kind of beans: black, pinto, cannatelli, chick pea, kidney. no seasoning, nothing mixed with them just beans!

@mynoahbear: Wow, eating natto is amazing!! I love it, but it took me a while to adjust to it... your daughter is a true Japanese!

I gave A some of my sauerkraut one morning and I was shocked that he kept eating more! I only started liking it recently and I am in my 30's.

Their favorite soup is beet soup. My son ate clams on Friday, I was shocked but he kept taking them from my plate.
