At 7 months, your LO may have developed object permanence meaning that she remembers that you exist even when you aren't physically present. If she hasn't learned how to fall sleep on her own yet, then she will freak out when you try to put her down while she is still in the light sleep cycle and will need you to rock and soothe her until she falls back asleep again. It generally takes about 20 minutes for babies to get into deep sleep where you can put them down without waking them up. But once one sleep cycle is over (about 40 min) she will wake up and if she doesn't know how to put herself back to sleep then she will freak out again.

@avivoca: *big hugs* for you. Has she ever put herself to sleep without nursing? I am wondering if she needs the nursing to get herself sleepy enough to fall asleep. But in any case, in your situation with no sleep and no help, I would just go into survival mode. You just need to do whatever it takes to get her to sleep and then slowly figure out what she needs. She is probably a little overtired from the lack of sleep in the past two weeks. Hang in there!

@avivoca: this sounds totally like my LO at around that age. We had a similar routine: bath, nurse, rock a bit and put down drowsy but awake. He would fall asleep easily and also went back to sleep easily after motn feedings. This didn't work anymore at around 6 months and I had to rock him fully to sleep. Then even that didn't work and I finally had to CIO at around 6.5 months because he would wake up every hour crying and I would end up rocking him for over an hour to only have to do it again an hour later.

I remember it used to drive me crazy trying to figure out what was wrong and how to "fix" it. And trying to do critical thinking with a heavily sleep deprived brain wasn't helping.

I'm sorry I can't give better advice. Sometimes its a matter of trial and error to figure out what works best for your LO. *hugs*
